Description: WIUP seeks 1-2 interns for the 2024 summer session to fill interim management positions. The position(s) will require both on and off-air work with the broad goals of ensuring WIUP’s smooth operation over the summer months, as well as preparations for projects extending into the upcoming academic year.
Duties: The successful applicant(s) will play a key role in WIUP’s daily operations throughout the summer including, but not limited to:
- Hosting and producing multiple on-air shifts weekly;
- Managing the station’s Digital Audio Delivery (DAD) system as regards our digital library, scheduling programming, and facilitating the broadcast of syndicated programs;
- Off air production work including the annual refresh of our Public Service Announcements, producing show promos, and station IDs;
- Writing scripts for on air use, including live read PSAs, as well as the Community Calendar and Cultural Calendar;
- Working with the Faculty Advisor and Chair in planning and marketing the WIUP reunion to be held during homecoming weekend, 2024;
- Reviewing/screening incoming music supplied by promoters/labels each week, and integrating into digital library;
- Assist with training new DJs for summer session;
- Assist in community outreach/community relations/events and planning;
- Revision of station training materials;
- Managing station social media accounts;
- ..and other duties as required.
Qualifications: In addition to all existing eligibility requirements for COMM interns, this position requires at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Successful applicants must be well organized, and communicate effectively. Previous radio and audio experience are strongly preferred.
