IUP TV Meeting Today!

Hello from all of us at IUP-TV and happy fall semester!

Have you ever wanted to be part of a real TV show? Whether it be acting, writing, or operating equipment on a studio production similar to those like SNL, ESPN, or even G4? By joining IUP-TV, you can!

IUP-TV is Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s very own television channel! From our home on channel 6, we specialize in showcasing what students can bring to the table in TV entertainment.

Don’t worry about requirements; IUP-TV is open to everyone, not just Comm Media majors. Participating in television is an excellent chance to gain experience in many fields, from marketing, graphic design, and more! Plus, each show has its own welcoming community, giving you an opportunity to meet plenty of new friends!

IUP-TV’s recruitment meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 30th @ 5:30pm in Stouffer Auditorium. There, newcomers can have a chance to learn about each of the five different TV shows, meet the producers, learn about the organization and fill out applications. Any additional questions can also be answered there.

From those of us at IUP-TV, we hope to see what you can bring to the table!

The operator must have a basic understanding of camera assembly (i.e., tripod, HDMI cords, etc.). The operator must have experience with the recognition of quality camera angles and shoot scenes as directed by the producer or in accordance with the actions on the playing field. The operator should be available on Friday nights for high school football productions (fall) and on weekday evenings (winter/spring) but be aware that other events might require daytime or weekend available.

The operator’s duties include picking up the feed from our play-by-play announcers and airing it on radio along with commercials and some pre-recorded game content; recording the game to make clips to play back during halftime or postgame; sending game feed to our audio stream provider on the phone in the studio. (Simply dial a phone # and a PIN); recording a wrap from the play-by-play person after the game to run in our morning sports report; possibly sending score updates to the other play-by-play announcers. For live remote broadcasts: Email reports from our client locations and dub them into our on-air system, then go to the appropriate studio to verify that the sound cut made it to the studio and is ready to air.
