This site provides you with all of the information you need to understand the IUP Communications Media Internship Program. There is information here for prospective employers, students, faculty, and anyone who has an interest in our highly successful effort that brings students and careers together!
An internship is an opportunity for juniors, seniors and graduate students to work in their field of choice while receiving university credit. Undergraduate students receive nine credits for completing 360 work hours on a summer internship. Graduate students receive six credits for 240 work hours on a summer internship. These hours are typically earned by working full time, 40 hours per week, however hours can be spread over a longer period of time with a shorter work week. Students may either find their own internship site or choose from many resources identified by the department.
Students begin their internship search and application process in the spring semester immediately preceding their planned summer internship. Prior to registering for a summer internship, all undergraduate students must complete COMM 395 Career Planning and have a 2.0 overall GPA. Graduate students must complete COMM 713 and have a 3.0 overall GPA.
