Get Paperwork In!
We are down to less than 2 weeks to submit a Site Offer Form and Student Data Sheet for an internship this summer. I cannot process an internship without both documents. Do not turn them in on different dates! Turn them in at the same time!
If you need assistance finding an internship, there is still time. Stop in and see me. I’ll be in my office tomorrow from 12 pm to 2 pm.

Is it Too Late to Get An Internship?
No! Stop by Dr. Lenze’s office (127 Stouffer) between 12 pm and 2 pm today and he can help you look for an internship! Don’t delay! April 17th is approaching!
What if I have a Low GPA?
If your overall GPA is 2.3 or lower, you will not be able to register until Spring Semester Grades are posted to your transcript, sometime during the week of May 15th. If your current GPA is 2.3 or lower, you should tell your internship site that you will not be able to start until May 18th to be safe. Understand that if your overall GPA is below a 2.0, you will not be able to go on internship this summer and you will not be given registration information for the internship, even if your internship was approved pending grade verification.
Why Can’t I Register for COMM 493 or 793?
No one will be able to register for COMM 493: Internship until the first week of May. At that time, you will receive an email from the Communications Media Department providing you with the specific course number and override to get you into your section of Internship.
Modified Office Hours
I will need to modify office hours tomorrow, Wednesday March 29th to 1 pm to 3 pm. I can do quite a bit to help find an internship, even now. Get to my office for chocolate, coffee, and help finding an internship!
Dr. Lenze
Dr. Lenze off today
Due to a family emergency, Dr. Lenze will not be on campus today. If you need to reach him please contact him at 724-840-8295. You may reach him until 2 PM today.
What do I do now?
If you have an internship:
Submit the paper work and wait for Dr. Lenze to send you registration materials in the first week of May. Do not delay in submitting paperwork.
If you don’t have an internship:
It is not too late!
- You were supposed to create an Indeed account and apply for 10 internships a week, starting in January. Did you? If not, do it now.
- Follow up with applications you already sent. Give them a call. What can it hurt?
- Visit Dr. Lenze during office hours and let’s look together! MWF 12 pm to 2 pm.
April 17th is the deadline to submit a signed site offer form and student data sheet. Avoid the rush! Get it done as soon as possible!

Career and Professional Development Programs
The Career and Professional Development Center will present 3 upcoming Career Ready Seminar Series programs. All are topics (life design, company culture, DEI) that we believe students, regardless of major or career goals, could benefit from hearing and learning more about. Furthermore, we are extremely excited to be bringing back 2 IUP alumni to speak with both Laurie Kuzneski and Je’Mone Smith each leading a session. As a reminder, the IUP Career Ready Seminar Series provides an overview of key competencies which impending graduates need to learn and develop to be successful as they make the transition from higher education into the professional world of work.

During this program, Je’Mone will talk not only about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, but he will also dive into topics such as how teamwork makes the dream work, and the ways to communicate effectively in a complex world.
Learning Outcome: Participants will develop an understanding of how diversity, equity, and inclusion shape our personal and professional views and learn how they can translate experiences they have in college into the professional world.
