Opportunities for Service with RAINN

RAINN: The Rape Abuse Incest National
Network is the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the U.S. The Haven
Project at IUP is sponsoring RAINN Day on Thursday,
September 27, 2012.
Last year's event was a HUGE success, and with your
help, we anticipate an even better event in 2012! We are asking you to partner
with us to raise awareness against sexual assault on our campus. To show our
gratitude, we will be giving volunteers a RAINN Day t-shirt! There are four
ways to help us:

1. "RAINN
in the Oak Grove"
on Wednesday, September
26, 2012
where we chalk the walk with your organization's support
against violence and pledge to end sexual violence. You may also decorate a
plain umbrella with statistics and information from RAINN.org, along with the
name of your organization, which will be displayed on the ground next to your
portion of the sidewalk.

2. "Get
Carded"
The Haven Project will have 1,500 RAINN cards with information
about sexual assault and how to help survivors. Volunteers will pass out the
cards on the morning of Wednesday, September 26,
2012
to fellow students. Other volunteers will approach random students
in the afternoon, asking if they can produce their RAINN Day card and if so, a
prize will be given.

3. "Ready
for RAINN"
: Volunteers will walk around campus wearing rain gear and
carrying umbrellas with information on RAINN to raise awareness of sexual
assault.

No other effort is required.

4. "Chalk
the walk"
: Chalk around the other areas of campus with statistics and
information on RAINN, the Haven Project and the Alice Paul House.

The RAINN Day volunteer
meeting will be held in the HUB Susquehanna Room at 7pm on Thursday, September
20th.
If you and your organization want to be
involved, please show up at the meeting!! If you cannot attend this meeting you
may also visit our RAINN Volunteer Information table Monday September 17th
through Thursday September 20th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We will be
outside in the Oak Grove, unless there is bad weather- in that case we will be
located in the Library lobby.
