This month was looking like it was going to be a great one for the hip-hop culture. Only half way through this month of June we’ve already been blessed with four albums for hip-hop elites and are still awaiting a few more. Those are things the people in the hip-hop community could be happy about and look forward to, but with the events that have transpired over the last twenty-four hours the tone in the hip-hop community has shifted drastically. Two lives were lost yesterday. Both well before their time. Florida rapper ‘XXXtentacion’ and Pittsburgh rapper ‘Jimmy Wopo’ were both shot and killed in their home states late yesterday afternoon. This news left the hip-hop world in a daze as people took to social media to share there reactions and give condolences. XXXtentacion’s music streams went up by 700,000 streams by the end of last night, and he and Jimmy Wopo both gained a substantial amount of new followers. Why now? Why not show love and support when people are alive. Better yet, why has “clout chasing” become the new trend. It has always been way cooler to be able to say you got something on your own and because you put in the work for it. Rather then rob somebody for their chain and then go post videos on social media for fame. Or in this case take someones life. Now two mothers are going to have to burry their son’s and it should never be like that. Especially under these types of circumstances. All that “Clout chasing”needs to end and so does the gun violence. Nobody is a winner in a situation like this. Lives are now ruined or forever changed because of careless and senseless actions. I am truly saddened with the events that occurred yesterday and my deepest prayers go out to all the families involved. I’m sure the people would like to leave their two cents as well, so do send this thread and circulate the CURRENT-cy.
