Planning a Photoshoot with a Model

The school year will be starting again soon and many kids will need senior pictures done. We’re also approaching fall which is a popular wedding season. Today I want to talk about prepping for a photoshoot with a model.

Stressing about what do to for a shoot? Think ahead.

I think it is most important to talk with the model beforehand to understand what they are looking for. You should be adapting to their wants and needs. It is important to consider the following:

-location

-lighting (are we indoors or outdoors)

-number of people (mostly applies to weddings/family shoots)

-the” look” they are going for

-budget/time

Make sure you talk with your client about the location(s) you will be taking the photos. You’ll want to plan for the lighting in those locations. Are we indoors? We’ll probably need extra light. You might even want to check out the locations on your own beforehand. Also consider number of people to have poses ready. To satisfy your client’s needs you’ll also want to get an idea of the look or style they want. Lastly, make sure you allow enough time to get great images and speak to them about your prices.

Practice makes perfect, so get friends to practice modeling for you to get it right before your client is in front of you. You don’t want to waste any of their time. You could also look up poses on the internet. I get most of my ideas from Pinterest.

Keep trying!

Hope you guys learned something today! Share this link and stay tuned for another post tomorrow!
