The Honors College is looking for students who want to share their Honors
College story, college search tips and spread the word about the Honors
College. Three opportunities exist for your involvement:
1. Overnight Hosts: overnight hosts welcome visiting students to stay with them overnight in their Whitmyre room. Taking the student to meals, showing them what college life is like and providing them a positive experience are needed. We’ll ask you to complete a short survey so that we can try to best match visiting students with major, interest and ‘roommate patterns’ like early/late going to sleep. Overnight hosts will be selected and should talk to their roommate about volunteering for this before emailing handring@iup.edu with your interest.
3. Hometown representative: go back to your high school, or visit others, as a representative of the Honors College. We’ll set you up with some training around the application process and answers to questions we tend to get from high school students and provide you with materials to take with you. You may choose to visit during a trip home or work with Heather in visiting local schools. All students are welcome to participate in this opportunity to help spread the word about the Honors College – email handring@iup.edu with your interest and a copy of your schedule for availability for local visits.
