Howling in the Age of Technology
I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness…
-Allen Ginsberg, Howl
Allen Ginsberg attempted to write a poem spontaneously and with no
re-strictions. This sense of spontaneous and uncensored expression seems
particularly crucial in the digital and technological age we live in
today. As the technologies of our expression continue to change, the
fears, re-strictions, surveillance and censor-ship of new forms of
writing and lit-erary expression also persist and spread. Still, we are
left with endless possibilities to create and perform using forms of
writing both old and new. This conference is an examina-tion of this
tension and a celebration of all the ways we still Howl through our
multitude of texts
Submission Deadline: February 4th, 2011
Students will be notified in early March whether or not their work is accepted.
