Film Screening: “South African Hero, John L. Dube”

In anticipation of the visit of filmmaker Dr. Chérif Keita on Monday, April 11, there will be screenings of his film on South African hero, John L. Dube, co-founder of the African National Congress and pioneering educator, journalist, and musician.

Screenings of the film times:

Sunday, April 3, 7:00-8:00 p.m., Stabley Library, Room 101;
Monday, April 4, 7:00-8:00 p.m., Weyandt Hall, Room 208; and
Tuesday, April 5, 7:00-8:00 p.m., HSS Room 216.

On Monday, April 11, there will be a screening of the film “Remembering Nokutela” and discussion with filmmaker Dr. Chérif Keita.

The film will be shown 6:30-7:30 and discussion will follow, 7:30-8:30 p.m. in Humanities and Social Science Building, Room B-11.  This film brings to light Nokutela Dube’s contributions to empowering black South Africans.  She worked alongside husband John L. Dube, travelling to the U.S., producing and presenting choral music, and founding a school in South Africa.
 
The screenings and the discussion are free and open to the public. 
Attendance vouchers will be provided.
