Activities in celebration of International
Education Week (IEW) will take place the week of October 4-8, 2010.
These activities are sponsored by IUP’s Office of International Education in collaboration with the Lively Arts Series.
All events are free unless otherwise noted and open to the public. Vouchers will be available for classes encouraged to attend events.
International Education Week is a joint national initiative of the
U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.
Monday, October 4
- IEW Luncheon: Noon to 1:15 p.m. Folger Hall, Crimson Event Center.
Free food and music for all.- Origami demonstration and Chinese and Arabic calligraphy available.
- Mi Esperenza sale during the IEW luncheon: Nonprofit
organization dedicated to the educational, financial, and spiritual
development of women living in extreme poverty in Honduras.
- Chinese Foreign Film: Up the Yangtze, 7:00 p.m., Pratt Auditorium.
Tuesday, October 5
- Study Abroad Fair: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. HUB, Ohio Room.
- Mi Esperenza sale during the Study Abroad Fair.
- Salsa and Chips Workshop “Latin Rhythms”: Sol y Canto, Noon to 1:00 p.m. HUB, Susquehanna Room.
- Sol y Canto Concert, part of the Lively Arts
Series, 8:00 p.m., Gorell Recital Hall. Tickets will be available at the
HUB. Regular $16, Discount $14, I-card $10

- International Tea Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. HUB, Susquehanna Room. Taste snacks and beverages from around the world.

- African Foreign Film: Ezra, 7:00 p.m., Pratt Auditorium.
Thursday, October 7
- International Women’s Breakfast: Nutrition and Fitness: 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. HUB, Monongahela Room.
- International Photo Contest Exhibit and Voting for People’s Choice: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., HUB, Susquehanna Room.
- Mi Esperenza sale during Photo Contest. Photos will later be hung in the Commonplace Coffeehouse from October 2010 through February 2011.
- Spanish Foreign Film: Stranded, 7:00 p.m., Pratt Auditorium.
Events are funded by the OIE and IUP Student Activity Fee.
