Photography Lenses and their uses

Hi all! Today I would l0ve to share with you all the different types of photography lenses and all of their uses. A photographer should be diverse in their camera knowledge, as clients will want all kinds of work done. So practice as much as you can and get comfortable developing your skills.

First up is a wide angle lens. This lens does exactly what the name says, widens your frame. Specifically, this is designed for landscape photography, to get a large view of canyons, mountains, a city, etc. Because the world is so diverse, the options are limitless. If you are a traveling photographer, I highly recommend using this lens and practicing with it. This is essential for photojournalists.

The fisheye lens distorts the camera frame to create a panorama-like image. This is great for creative photographers and athletic photography. For photographing skaters, this lens is great to get the athlete completing a trick. This transfers to all kinds of athletics, so this can be great for magazines, too.

A telephoto lens is meant to capture objects very far away, and the range of the lens can vary a lot. Most are usually 70-300 mm, but others be upwards of 500 mm. Honestly this lens is great to use to capture things that can only be caught in the moment. Try different elevation levels when using this lens and familiarize yourself using this to capture different things. The details in this lens are fantastic no matter how far or close away the object is from the camera.

Practice these lenses and styles and see what you like most. Is there something you would’ve liked me to include? What topic would you like me to discuss in my next post? Leave a comment below, and as always, team work makes the dream work.
