Thursday, August 10th — 6 hours

At 11 am, I removed PetFinder profiles for animals that had been adopted on the days I was off. I finished publishing profiles for the remaining list of dogs I wanted to make sure had profiles before I left for the day. At noon, I went to one of the cat rooms to try and take photos of cats that I wanted to make sure had profiles before I left, as well. I was finished with photographs around 1 pm, and worked on making the profiles after I had edited and uploaded the photos. I worked on the profiles until 4:30 pm. I then assisted with getting animals loaded into a transport van for an event. I started to log my final post at 4:45 pm, and finished at 5 pm.

Wednesday, August 9th — 6 hours

At 11 am, I removed PetFinder profiles for animals that had been adopted on the days I was off. I took out 2 dogs for photos before the adoptions desk opened. Steve was off for the day, so another Adoptions Counselor, Ryan, helped me take out some dogs at 1:30 pm. We took out 3 dogs for photographs. I really wanted to get certain dogs onto PetFinder to try and increase their interest before I left the internship, so I uploaded their photos around 2:45 pm. After that, I worked on creating their PetFinder profiles and writing biographies until I left at 5 pm.

Tuesday, August 8th — 6 hours

At 10 am, I logged on to my final project website to put on all the final touches. I wrote the Internship Review section of my portfolio, which I then converted to a PDF and linked to my site. I was finished that around 11:30 am. I then worked on finishing up the formatting of my Case Study page, and re-worded some of the paragraph introductions. At 12:45 pm, I re-formatted my photo gallery to rearrange the order of the photos, and to make sure that the photos were cropped and displayed how I wanted. At 2 pm, I previewed my website to make sure that everything was linked correctly and working. Some of my links were not to the correct page, so I made sure to fix those. I continued to work on smaller formatting and flow issues until 4 pm.

Sunday, August 6th — 7 hours

At 9 am, I continued to work on my final project. I added more items to the case study, and read through to re-word some of what I had already written. I also uploaded my resume and cover letter. At 1 pm, I removed animals from PetFinder that had been adopted during the previous days. I did a walkthrough of the cat rooms and dog kennels to add more animals to my list of those needing photographs. I was able to take out two of the newly evaluated dogs, so I worked on photographing cats until Steve was free at 2:25 pm to take out more dogs. We took out 2 dogs for photographs. Around 3:15 pm, I began to edit and upload the photos onto PetPoint. I was able to start working on PetFinder profiles around 4:45 pm, and got 3 dogs and 4 cats uploaded before leaving at 8 pm.

Thursday, August 3rd — 6 hours

At 11 am, I added a few more animals that had been transported into the shelter and/or moved onto the adoption’s floor over the days I was off. I continued to work on the list after having added the new animals. I went around to each cat room and tried to photograph as many cats as I could that weren’t sleeping or trying to escape the cage. I then worked on taking out a few of the dogs that I was able to handle and took their photographs. Steve was off for the day, so I asked another counselor, Raina, if she was able to help with dogs when she had a free moment. I worked on editing and uploading the pictures I had already taken, and continued to create PetFinder profiles for the dogs and cats until 4 pm, when Raina was available to take out dogs. We photographed 3 dogs, and I uploaded the photos onto PetPoint before I left at 5 pm.
