Who are the Crystal Gems? Or maybe the more appropriate question is what are they? The Crystal Gems are from the TV show Steven Universe. The Crystal Gems are some of the main characters of the show, and they’ve got quite the backstory.
The first question is what are the Crystal Gems? The short answer is that they’re aliens, but they aren’t your typical aliens. They’re an ageless race of aliens that have physical forms that are projected from their gems, which are the core of their being. The Gems aren’t born, but they’re made. The are inserted into the ground by injectors, and they emerge when they’re ready.
So now we know what the Crystal Gems are, but who are they. The Crystal Gems are rebels that protect the Earth. They were lead by Rose Quartz who saw how beautiful Earth was and decided to put a stop to the plans of the Diamonds. The Diamonds are the perfection obsessed rulers of the Gems, and they planned to use Earth as a colony. They would drain all of the resources from Earth killing off the organic life. Rose Quartz wouldn’t stand for the destruction of Earth, or the cruelty of the Diamonds. Rose amassed a following of rebels and forced the Diamonds off of Earth, but not before the Diamonds destroyed almost all of the Crystal Gems.
This brings us to the present in the show. The surviving members of the Crystal Gems are Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst, and Steven, the half-human son of Rose Quartz. They are all unique and they continually work together to protect the Earth from the dangers of the Gems from Homeworld. They do what they can to do what is best for Earth, even if the decisions are difficult. The Crystal Gems are the protectors of Earth.
The Crystal Gems are an incredible group of characters. They are heroic, kind, and strong. However, this doesn’t stop them from getting into some pretty funny scenarios. Steven Universe is by far one of the best shows produced by Cartoon Network, at least in my opinion. I highly recommend checking this show out.
