Club advisor

Club advisor Kenneth Sherwood worked with university students to re-establish the IUP  Sailing Club in 2012.  An avid small boat sailor, he helps introduce students to the joys of sailing by instructing beginners and coaching more advanced sailors as they gain their first experiences in intercollegiate racing.

Sherwood has taken extensive training from US Sailing, including Safety and Rescue, as well as earning his Small boat level 1, level 2, and keelboat instructor certifications. Consequently, participating IUP students are able to gain skills and achieve a US Sailing certification for only the cost of semester club dues.

In 2023, Sherwood led a small group of IUP students to Florida for a week-long cruise. He actively builds partnerships to promote sailing through the scouting Camp Seph Mack, Friends of Yellow Creek, and Moraine Sailing Club, where he also races in Flying Scot Fleet 80.
