I want to take the time to speak on the overturning of Roe V Wade. Now that the decision to ban abortion is up to the states many women are in danger. I live in a democratic state so right now I have nothing to worry about, but many women I know do not have this privilege. At this point, we cannot lean on the Democratic Party for help because they have failed us.
We end up trusting and relying on politicians who only say things to get our vote. The Democratic Party has had years to codify Roe v Wade, but they never did. We speak up and we vote just like we are told and nothing changes. There is nothing left to do except use our voices and help the women living in states where abortion will be banned.
We have to lean on each other and the abortion funds and networks put in place. I know this is a scary time for women who live in the select states that will ban abortion, but there are networks in place for situations like this. We have trustworthy and caring people and places, we just need to make others aware of them.
One of the biggest things we can do right now is use our voices and spread information. Attend your local protests and talk to your community. When we all come together as one voice we can influence politicians and authority. It may seem hopeless but we need to try and educate and influence as many people as we can.
The day Roe v Wade was overturned I received a text from Joe Biden committee asking to rush $15 to the Democratic Party. I encourage you to not do this, and instead donate it to abortion access funds. This is very important for the women who need transportation, time off work, and money if they have to travel to get an abortion.
