Let me introduce myself.
My name is Lily Whorl. I’m a senior at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in journalism and public relations and minoring in communications media. I love my field of study as it allows me to use my creative thinking and problem solving. I’m a member of IUP’s chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). This March I was honored to represent IUP along with another student at this year’s PRSSA National Assembly in Miami. I worked as a student research assistant this spring for an opioid epidemic research project where I worked to create content for and implement a successful public relations campaign in Indiana and Armstrong Counties. I proudly designed the logo for the Know More to No More Prevention Campaign. I will return to my position on the project in the fall semester.
I am now working two summer internships. Quality Engineering Solutions as a consultant through the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as well as the Borgen Project as a public relations and marketing Intern. These organizations are very different and are both opening my eyes to different work forces. This Fall I will began an internship at Planful LLC., a public relations firm in Indiana, PA. I am a driven student with a 3.54 GPA working hard to build my experience to prepare me for life after graduation. I hope to work as a public relations professional in the future in the D.C. area.
