Editorial Intern, The Best Small Fictions

Overview
The Best Small Fictions, an annual prize anthology featuring the year’s outstanding literary flash fiction and hybrid works under 1000 words, seeks an editorial intern for the spring semester of 2018. The 2017 edition was guest-edited by Amy Hempel, and the 2018 edition, on which the intern will work, will be guest-edited by Aimee Bender. This is an unpaid, credit-bearing internship that conforms to the university’s guidelines and schedule.

Expected Tasks
Build and maintain databases relevant to the anthology’s needs; assist and support the series editors in administrative tasks (may include social media communications).

Minimum Qualifications
Excellent organizational and professional communication skills with a consistent ability to meet deadlines.

Internet access and familiarity with or willingness to learn to use Excel, Dropbox, Google Docs, and other software necessary for effective remote office collaborations.

Desired qualifications
Familiarity with very short fiction and hybrid forms and the contemporary literary scene. Technical skill with Excel spreadsheets, Dropbox, and Google docs. Experience with professional use of social media.
