Colin Kaepernick has been out of a job for the last three NFL seasons. He was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He played six seasons in the NFL.  He became publicized for kneeling during the national anthem. He kneeled because of his views on the country’s treatment of racial minorities. He stated ”I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” This is important because he is standing up for African Americans in the country that have unjustified.

This created frustration and problems within the Kaepernick and the NFL. Even President Donald Trump called out Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the National Anthem. The National Anthem is and always will be a special part of the pregame ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens. People around the league felt disrespected by Kaepernick. He was cut by the 49ers and haven’t been on an NFL roster since.

Colin Kaepernick filed a collusion grievance against the NFL, alleging that teams have “blackballed” him from the league based on his decision to protest social injustice and racial inequality by kneeling during the national anthem. He settled with the NFL. But he still remained a free agent in the NFL. There are not many 2nd or 3rd string quarterback in the NFL that are better than him.

I believe Colin Kaepernick deserves to be on an NFL roster. He is better than some of the starting and backup quarterbacks in the NFL. For his career, Kaepernick is 28-30 as a starter with a completion percentage of 59.8 percent to go along with 72 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions. He has also rushed for 13 touchdowns. Kaepernick has a 4-2 playoff record as well, and he led the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII at the conclusion of the 2012 season, where they lost 34-31 to the Baltimore Ravens. Since parting ways with Kaepernick, the 49ers have gone 10-22 and started four different quarterbacks. His body of work speaks for itself.

Do you think Colin Kaepernick deserves another shot in the NFL? Do you think he is being blackballed? Do you think he ruined his own career? Do you think he protest was worth it? Will he ever get another shot in the NFL? Please let me know what you think.

Should Colin Kaepernick be on a NFL Team?
