Biography

Zachary Hirsch is a Senior at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he studies Communications Media Production with a minor in Journalism. He is expected to graduate in December of 2021 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. His strong work ethic and dedication towards his education has lead him to 3 honor roll semesters and a cumulative major GPA of 3.51. He is an active volunteer at the Chester County SPCA and is currently on the executive board for his fraternity. After graduation, Zachary intends on pursuing a career in Sport’s Journalism.

Interacting and engaging with different kinds of sports has been his passion for as long as he can remember. Growing up as a kid, he would constantly be involved with sports whether it was playing for a recreational team, going home and watching sports, or just reading articles and magazines, he always wanted to be around sports. He was a superior athlete his entire athletic career, receiving Second Team All-Chestmont selections for his junior and senior year in football and lacrosse. As he started to grow up, he started to develop a strong interest in his English classes. He always enjoyed the writing aspect of the classes as it allowed him to express his creative nature. His admiration for sports journalists such as Stephen A Smith and Colin Cowherd has inspired him to go down this path.

If there is one thing Zachary has learned from his prior work experience it’s that time and effort play a huge role in your overall success in holding an occupation. Over the past few years, Zachary has held multiple jobs that have helped develop certain skills and traits that enhanced his knowledge in his field. His job as a media marketer and landscaper for the company CPM taught him how to manage social media accounts while teaching him dedication and discipline involved with landscaping. His job at the CCSA summer camp helped him learn certain skills including creating logos while learning the adobe creative suite such as premier, photoshop, and etc. Considering it was a sport’s camp, Zachary was required to relay information about professional sports to the campers during breaks while also setting up certain sport’s games for them and watching over them. He really developed more knowledge of sports and how to commentate and write about them for others to see after doing this on a daily basis for several months. Needless to say, his past few jobs have taught him a lot of valuable skills that he can carry over to his future career.

Growing up as a twin, Zachary was always striving to be an overall better individual and exceed expectations set by others which developed his competitive nature. His extroverted manner and curiosity allow him to effectively express his views and opinions on certain topics that really enhance his writing skills. His cheerful attitude allows him to get along with others and work well in group settings. Zachary is overall a very dedicated individual who prospers and strives off of criticism and is constantly looking to improve himself to be the best version of himself.
