Southwest Jordan

Stop #17, Southwest Jordan.

How? This is a common question when trying to travel far and wide. How will I get there? How do I plan for this trip? How will I make this possible?

Today I will be answering some of your ‘How questions’ on attaining a successful trip. I will also be open for tips, comments, and questions at the end of the post.

Welcome to Southwest Jordan! An Arab nation home to ancient monuments, nature reserves, and seaside resorts.

How will I get there? Flights to Amman which is the closest town to Petra, is around $800-$1200. I recommend keeping an eye on flight prices and comparing prices between travel companies. Transportation to Petra is a bout a four hour drive by high way. You can take a public bus or rent a car.

How will I rest? Hotels range from $50-$200. Price changes depending on location and amenities. I recommend 3 star hotels compared to 5 in order to save money.

How will I stay occupied? We head to Petra in order to see one of the seven wonders and thats the Ancient City of Petra. Nicknamed the Rose-Red City, Petra is half built and half carved into the desert sandstone of the Wadi Musa valley. Travelers are able to explore the extensive ruins. However it is estimated that 85% of the city is still buried. This brings people far and wide to gaze upon the mysterious half-built half-carved city. The enter the city you must go through a narrow gorge in the rock. It really is an architecturally mystery . Inside you will learn about the history of the city like amphitheaters and tombs.

How will I communicate? There are english accommodations like tour guides and even road signs. I recommend learned basic conversational phrases to better communicate.

How will I stay safe? It is recommended that you get the follow vaccinations; Rabies, Typhoid, Hepatitis A and B, and Yellow Fever. Its also recommended that if you plan on staying in Petra all day you bring plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Always bring sunscreen and bug spray to help with climate change.

Traveling is an eye opening and educational experience, the only way to learn is to go. There is no master plan or set rules or guide lines to traveling. You just  do your research and plan accordingly. So, where will you go? What will you learn? What’s stopping you?
