Rome

Stop #19, Rome, Italy.

How? This is a common question when trying to travel far and wide. How will I get there? How do I plan for this trip? How will I make this possible?

Today I will be answering some of your ‘How questions’ on attaining a successful trip. I will also be open for tips, comments, and questions at the end of the post.

Welcome to Rome! Rome is the capital of Italy. Rome is home of nearly 3,000 years of art and architecture. Ancient ruins evoke visitations to the city as well as headquarters of the Roman Catholic church resides here.

How will I get there? Flights to Rome are around $800-$1000. I recommend keeping an eye out for price changes. Prices can vary depending on when and where you decide to depart. Skyscanner is a good app to use in order to find a good deal.

How will I rest? Hotels range from $60-$200. Because Rome is a heavily traveled location expect prices to be higher during heavily traveled times. Hotel rooms will vary depending on amenities. I recommend three star hotels compared to five in order to save money. Also, look into Airbnb to find cheaper bedrooms.

How will I stay occupied? What is there no the do in Rome. A week is not enough time to even take in everything this city has to offer. It houses one of the seven wonders, the Colosseum. Built in 72 A.D. as a pleasure place for the people, still stands today. The venues most famous events were the gladiatorial contests where people would fight to death with thousand of onlookers. You can visit St. Peter’s Basilica which is the worlds largest basilica for Christianity. Also a real site to see is the Trevi Fountain which is an iconic 18th century sculpted fountain. The Vatican City Museums which houses famous artist art work like Michelangelo’s  Sistine Chapel. These are only a couple of historic sites to see. Rome is rich for its history.

How will I communicate? There is more then enough tour guides and bilingual speakers in Rome since its a heavily traveled place. I recommend getting educated on a couple of phrases in order to communicate with the culture.

How will I be safe? Its recommended that you get the following shots; Rabies an Hepatitis A and B. Stay away from stray animals. For women, never travel alone, sex-trafficking is a problem in Europe. Be aware of your surroundings and be smart.

If you have ever been to Rome and you have travel tips feel free to leave them below. If you have any comments or questions drop them below as well.

‘How’ questions are only an excuse that stops us from straying from our comfort zone. Don’t let it stop you, let it fuel you. Traveling is an eye opening and educational experience, the only way to learn is to go. There is no master plan or set rules or guide lines to traveling. You just  do your research and plan accordingly. So, where will you go? What will you learn? What’s stopping you?
