It is no mystery to any NBA fan that Bradley Beal is a big-time performer. Last season the Washington Wizards shooting guard averaged around 30 points a game, and somehow did not make the all-star team. That might have something to do with the fact that the Washington Wizards have been downright deplorable the past two seasons. The Wizards have not been the same since John Wall went down with an injury in 2018. After trading for all-star point guard Russell Westbrook from Houston, many thought this team could be a playoff-caliber squad with scoring machines like Beal and Westbrook. That has not been the case as the wizards sit at a sorry 2-6 record.
I have always thought that Bradley Beal was an amazingly gifted scorer in this league, but that doesn’t always translate to wins. Bradley Beal is a complimentary piece to a franchise but is not the guy to lead a team to a championship. He is the Robin to someone’s Batman. Beal and Westbrook together are in the conversation for best backcourt in the NBA, yet they aren’t even being considered a threat. Beal needs to go somewhere that needs a supplementary scorer who doesn’t need to be the primary option.
Some potential scenarios that would benefit beal could include the Dallas Mavericks. Luka Doncic established himself as the main star and MVP candidate. Beal in combination with a healthy Kristaps Porzingis could form a deadly trio. Another scenario could include the Portland Trailblazers. The Blazers could offer CJ McCollum and a couple first-round picks for Beal and add a far better complementary piece to Damian Lillard.
My take would be that Bradley Beal’s talents are most needed in Denver. The Nuggets made the Western Conference Finals last season in the NBA bubble where they challenged the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers. They have an established superstar center in Jokic that averages near a triple-double and can distribute the ball to others. If you traded Michael Porter Jr., a couple picks, and perhaps a supplementary player this team could form a devastating big-three that could compete with the top teams in the league. While Porter Jr. is a growing star, he is no Bradley Beal. This would push the Nuggets to maybe even be favorites in the West.
What do you think? Can Bradley Beal carry this Wizards Franchise? Where will he fit best? Let me know in the comment section below.
