Getting in the vehicle after drinking, or any motorized vehicle, can be very dangerous. Being arrested for a DUI can be very heartbreaking for your family and possibly for families of a person who has been killed by someone who was drinking and driving. Being convicted of a DUI can put you behind bars or hefty fines. You are even facing the chance of losing your job.

Driving with impaired can impact your driving capability. It can put many of people at great danger, causing injury or death. Some people aren’t looking at the common things that are seen when someone is impaired.

  • Slow reaction time.
  • Lack of coordination.
  • Shortened concentration.
  • Weakened vision.
  • Constrained judgement.

All of these are factors of being impaired. When someone is showing these sign they should not even be consider driving. Approximately 28 people each day die from an accident involved alcohol. In 2018, there were 10,511 people who died from alcohol influenced accident.

Ways to prevent or help lower the risk of drink driving are being thought of. A lot of people believe they are never going to fix the problem, but there is a solution one way. Once someone is convicted of a DUI they should immediately get their licenses revoked and their car should be impounded. I know this is already something that we use but they take classes for drinking. The must take a couple week course and complete the course before they are even allowed behind the vehicle of a car again. Another way, is by having to have breathalyzers in their car that can indicate if they are intoxicated. If they are the car will not start.

I believe that some of these programs will help people from continuing to drink and drive. I think we must put our foot down and stop this from continuing. Thousands of people are dying because drunk people are thinking it’s ok to get behind the wheel of a car. Installing a breathalyzer into the car of someone who is convicted of a DUI is a great place to start. If they are not able to start the car, then they are unable to drive off.
