Sex offenses are more common then you think. Policy makers are always having a hard time to keep the public safe from sex offenders. Sex offenders are people who have been charged with a sex crime or sexual assault with a minor. Sex offenses can differ from state to state.
The most frequent sex offenses are:
- Crimes against adults: rape, sexual assault, and marital rape.
- Crimes against relatives: incest.
- Crimes against children: pornography, exploitation, molestation, abduction.
- Crimes against nature: indecent exposure, sodomy, bestiality.
- Crimes against sex for sale: prostitution.

Now sex offenders are walking around and looking like every day people. You could walk down the street beside a sex offender and have no idea. You could even walk right into a bar and be sitting right next to one and you would never know. I believe that besides being put onto the sex offender list, you should also have to have a card or inform others that you are in fact a sex offender. Yes, it is embarrassing but they did something very wrong and do not deserve to walk around and live just a “normal” life after committing the crime the committed.
There are many ways to help reduce or solve this problem. Making sex offenders register on the sex offender website with their address and their information. This helps people in the area know where these sex offenders are and to keep their children away from that area. Making sex offenders attend weekly classes or therapy, to get a full understanding of what they have done and why this is wrong. Getting them to know what they did was wrong and seeing why what they did is a problem.
I have always believed that people make mistakes, and that people can do bad things but they are able to change and do good with their life. Sex offenders, of course, are terrible people that do awful things to people. If they continue to do this and don’t want to change they deserve to be locked up for years. If they are willing to change and realize they made a terrible decision in their life they deserve another change. I don’t think they are good people or they don’t deserve to be locked up but I do believe people deserve a second chance.
What are your opinions on sex offenders and the different type of sexual offenses there are? Do you think all sex offenders deserved to be locked up for years on end? If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault and they need to talk to someone they can give the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline a call at 800-656-HOPE (4673).
