Today as I was reading up on some tech news I happened to come across an relatively exciting new start up. This startup allows users to developers to focus less on the back end of their applications and more so on the front end. There is no telling what this could do for software development. If such a service were to take off then it could be possible to release applications at a much faster rate.
Syncano has recently started offering their services of sharing back-end components with front-end developers. The service that Syncano is providing will make it much easier for enterprises to write applications by allowing developers to focus more on user experience by allowing them to bypass having to worry about developing the back-end functions of their programs. The services are offered through a cloud platform where functions like file storage, messaging, and push notification will be gathered from users and shared via a dashboard for other users to see. Users whom decide to share code via Syncano are capable of sharing it to all users or simply only users of their choice, such as those from their own company.
The service itself provides users with solutions, a set of app templates and a Codebox. Functionally the system allows users to run scripts via the cloud verses running them through their own applications. Though the company is starting with individual developers in mind, and has provided their own normal set of scripts and templates, they eventually anticipate for their services to be picked up by large companies. The founders of Syncano feel as if enterprises will be quite cautious at first. The main reason for enterprises being so cautious are due to potential for the services to be insecure. One of the main security risks are due to the fact that the shared data is done via a cloud based service. However, cloud based services are definitely an up and coming trend that are becoming more and more accepted as time goes on. As clouds become more secure, enterprises are much more likely to take up using the services of Syncano.
Syncano’s services are free for all developers when applications are in development and no money is collected up front. However once applications are being used, Syncano collects a monthly fee off of developers whom used the services to develop their applications. The fees figured out on a case by case basis and collect a certain amount based on how many users the developed application uses. There is however a base price of 25 dollars.
Start ups like this are beautiful because they sprout the potential of others to form in their footsteps.
