Review of the Internship Experience

This summer, I had the opportunity to be River Point Realty’s Marketing Intern. Prior to this internship, I had no experience in any marketing or office job. My overall goal during the internship was to develop high-impact marketing campaigns through social media marketing and print marketing for River Point Realty, agents who are apart of RPR, and any other companies owned/operated by Ryan Brown. My main areas of focus were social media marketing, print and direct mail marketing, video/photo production, events and team meetings, and email marketing. I feel that I accomplished my goal and hit all the areas of focus. I made a lot of social media content for the agency and our agents, some of which was posted on our River Point Instagram page and the agent’s personal social media platforms. I created agent postcards and business cards to be sent through direct mail. I had the opportunity to film a local business owner and have a hand in the video production. I also took pictures at the company golf outing as well as edited agent photos in Photoshop. I helped plan and attended our company golf outing and I was present at every marketing meeting in the office. Lastly, I often emailed agents and helped create marketing content to be emailed to their clients. For example, I made recruitment email templates that agents could send to potential recruits. Overall, I was able to work on every aspect of my scope of work and complete all my professional and personal goals.

My experience being an intern at River Point Realty was very positive.  Everyone at the brokerage created a positive learning environment and welcomed me with open arms. They were patient, informative, and professional. I learned so much about the real estate industry, being a marketing professional in that industry, and how the two worked together. Since it is a smaller business, everything was very casual including dress codes, work hours, and conversation. When deciding on an internship, I knew I didn’t want something that was very corporate and professional, so I am glad I got to experience a small tight-knit faculty and business. It definitely fit me and has made me realize that in the future I will probably look for less corporate jobs and try to make an impact at a smaller, even family run business.

In conclusion, my experience as the Marketing Intern for River Point Realty has been nothing but positive, informative, and valuable. This experience was a great step towards my future in media marketing.
