Disney has released their plan for the continuation of the Star Wars brand after the end of the sequel trilogy. With the success of The Mandalorian on DisneyPlus, it seems that the future of Star Wars is serialized miniseries. There is a myriad of new and exciting content coming, and this is a brief summarization of just some of the slated 55.
The Gungan is a spin-off focusing on the riveting story of Jar Jar Binks and his rise to power before, during, and after the Clone Wars. It picks up right after the events of The Phantom Menace and is set to conclude when the Empire takes control over the galaxy. It’s a show about political intrigue, double and triple crosses, and the inner machinations of Star Wars’ most interesting and complex characters ever put to screen. It is set to premiere in June 2020.
Gamorrea is about the race of pig-men from the beginning of Return of the Jedi, and it seems that this is more for the hardcore fans. this series will dive deep into the lore of fan-favorite characters Gartogg, Thok, and Jeeboo as they embark on thrilling adventures. Many hope to see Jabba the Hutt make a cameo appearance, but it’s unlikely as the head of the Hutt family at the time this series takes place was not Jabba, but Ebor. That’s why this is for real fans. The series release date is slated for sometime in July 2020.
Mundi: The Ki Adi Mundi story is easily one of the most anticipated Star Wars products. It will document Mundi’s journey from Mygeeto, his hometown on the planet Cerea all the way to his death in Mygeeto, and everything in between. Many fans are clamoring for the reveal of his backstory and the answer to numerous questions fans have had since the character was introduced in 1999. Questions like “What was his favorite class in the Jedi Academy?” “Does his large, grotesque head get in the way of personal relationships?” and “What time is lunch?” Mundi is rumored to come out in August 2020.
