Easy dorm snacks for a college dancer

The transition from living at home to living on your own can be a challenge. You go from having food readily available in your family’s kitchen to having to figure out what you are going to eat on your own. There is a lot more thought put into planning meals in between classes and rehearsals, fueling yourself enough to get through the day.

Getting down the right routine or finding the right food available can be difficult. Most dorms have rules of what can be brought in and that can really limit a student on what they can eat. I’m here to help work around some of the frustrations of eating while living in the dorms.

An obvious solution is to try and keep as many fruits and vegetables in your room and stay away from empty carbs such as chips and pretzels. It’s easy to grab snacks like chips, crackers, and pretzels for late night studying fuel, but those can leave you feeling unenergized in rehearsal the next day. If you want a study snack, opt for popcorn instead. An easy way to keep around fruits is when going to the dining hall for a meal, grab an extra fruit or veggie on your way out to have in your dorm room for later.

I recommend stocking up on non-perishable foods like granola bars. It is easy to shop for and can last you all semester. Stock up on your bar of choice granola, trail mix, cereal, etc. and for all of these snacks, look for products without added sugar or hidden sugar ingredients. It is a great way to have healthy snacks while not having to worry about shopping during your busy semester.

What kinds of snacks do you keep in your room?  Let me know in the comments below! Make sure you subscribe to my blog and head on over to my youtube channel and watch some of my videos. Share this post with your fellow dancers who are in college or starting in the fall and share on your social media if this helped you out!
