People may wonder why dancers would want to put in so much work for a 2-minute dance but it all pays off on stage for the performance. Rehearsals are mentally and physically demanding. All dancers need a way to cope with these high demands. Read on for some easy steps to take to make sure you’re ready to go when the time comes.
It is important to go into this high-demand environment prepared. If not you can fall behind in learning choreography. You want to go out there and give it your all to make it the best performance possible. Avoid the frustration of weak performances and follow these steps.
Stretching is an obvious necessity for any activity but when time is tight instructors will expect you to stretch on your own before class begins.Try to arrive to class earlier than the start time to take yourself through some warm-up exercises. Starting with the large muscles and working down to the smaller muscles. This will help work out any knots and relieve any tension on the body.
I recommend taking notes during or after class to minimize forgetting steps. It is much easier when practicing on your own so you are not just relying on your own memorization. It can also ease your mind knowing that you are doing the sequence correctly and you can go into class mentally prepared for what is ahead. It will also save time by not backtracking since you will not need to spend an extensive amount of time reviewing things you are unsure of.
