Hello and welcome back to my daily blog post. Today I will be sharing with you how to create and use your Spotify account. The network was created April 23, 2006, in Sweden. The purpose of Spotify is to find new songs, listen to music, and create playlists. I hope I help you learn the features and persuade you to download the app for yourself.
First, I will tell you how to create a Spotify account. After you download the app, click the “sign up” button. Once you do this it will take you to another page where you will have to enter and confirm your email address, phone number, Facebook, or apple account. For future logins you will be prompted to choose a password to keep your account safe. Lastly, there are a few more details that can be entered such as your name, gender, date of birth, etc. It’s as easy as that to create your Spotify account. If you want to edit your account, like change your name and profile picture, this can be done by clicking the “your library” tab in the bottom right, clicking “view profile”, and tap on “edit profile”.
Now that you have created your account you can choose whether you would like to keep it as a free or premium account. If you choose free Spotify, then you will experience ads about every eight to ten minutes of music time. If you are a business this is a great way to get your product out to the world. The audience is forced to listen to the ad until it is over. This is even if you exit the app and restart it. Also, with the free version you can only download podcasts. This means you will not be able to download albums, songs, or playlists to listen to offline. If you choose Spotify Premium, then you will never have ads (unless you listen to podcasts). You will also be able to download and listen to everything offline. There are different option plans if you would like to get premium. This includes Individual ($9.99 a month), Duo ($12.99 a month), Family ($15.99 a month), and Student ($4.99 a month). If you choose student, then you will have to provide information from your school to prove that you are a student. Now that you have chosen what plan you would like you are ready to use it.
Once you open the app, it brings you to your “home” page. This is where you will find your six most recently played playlists, your “shows” or podcasts, new music, and recommendations. On the top right corner, you will find three buttons. The first one is “what’s new” with a bell icon. This is where Spotify will show you any new music or podcasts from people you are following. The next button is “recently played” with a clock icon. This is where everything that you have recently listened to will appear. The third and last button is “settings” with a gear icon. This is also how you can access your profile. Settings has all your information as well as what plan you have chosen. If you need to change something in your Spotify account, this is most likely where you will go to find it.
Lastly, I will explain the other two tabs on the bottom. I have already gone over the home tab so we can skip that. The second tab is “search” with a magnifying glass icon. This is where you will go to search for artists, songs, albums, or podcasts. It will also show categories like “your top genres”, “featured podcast categories”, and “browse all”. The third and final tab is “your library” which is shaped with a bookshelf icon. This is where you will find all your liked songs, playlists, and all the people you are following. You can search through your library and add music to it through this tab. This is also another way to access your profile (like I talked about earlier).
In summary, Spotify is a great network to find and listen to music. It is also great for marketing to help businesses run ads. During this blog I talked about how you can create an account and how to use Spotify. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post and decide to download the app for yourself or if you already have it, I hope you learned something new. As always if you have any questions or ideas for my next post feel free to contact me on any of my socials linked on my home page.
