Hello and welcome to the next social media app, Twitter. So far, we have gone over Instagram, Pinterest and Tiktok. Twitter was released in July of 2006. It is used online and on the phone. I hope to inform you about the uses for this app and how to create one for yourself.
Twitter can be used for many things including your personal and business life. To create an account, you will need to click “sign up”. You will need to do this by using your google or apple account, email, or phone number. Once you enter one of those you will need a name, either personal or business. To verify that it is you, it will need your phone number. Your birthday is also needed for post recommendations even if the account is for a business, a pet, or something else. The next step is to “customize your experience”. This is where the app will use your data to personalize your experience. You can uncheck this if you wouldn’t like it to track your data.
The third step is to confirm your name, phone number and birth date. By signing up you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of Twitter. The fourth step is a six-digit number that will be sent to the phone number used and you will have to enter the code for verification. The last step is creating a password eight characters or more. Once you have completed these steps you will have the option to add a profile picture, bio, and username. You can also choose to turn notifications on for reminders about what is happening on your account. Similar to Pinterest, Twitter allows you to choose three interests as well as sub interests. When signing up, Twitter wants you to start by following at least one account. Now that you have successfully created and personalized your account, you are ready to get started.
When you first open the app, it brings you to your “for you” explore page. This is where all your personalized feed is. There are five more tabs at the top next to it including trending, Covid-19, news, sports, and entertainment. There are ten tabs on the left side as well as your account at the bottom left corner. The first tab is located at the top left corner which is the Twitter icon. The next tab is the “home” tab which is shaped as a house icon. This will take you back to your home page from wherever you are. The third tab is “search” which is shaped as a magnifying glass icon. This is where you can search for anything like interests, accounts, trending articles, etc. The fourth tab is your “notifications” which is shaped as a bell icon. It includes who follows, mentions, likes your posts, and more. The fifth tab is “messages”. This is like DMs where you can send or receive messages from any user on Twitter. The sixth tab is “bookmarks”. This is used to “save tweets for later”. The seventh tab is “lists” which is the icon of a notepad. This is for a list of the pins you have saved.
The eighth tab is the “profile” shaped as a person icon. This is where you can find your account and edit it. The next tab is “more” which includes topics, moments, twitter blue, newsletters, twitter for professionals, twitter ads, analytics, settings, privacy, help center, display, and keyboard shortcuts. Twitter is a great place to put ads for your business because it will get viewed by many potential buyers. The last tab is “tweet”, and it is shaped with a feather and plus sign. This is how you tweet or post things to your page.
Finally, when on your home page you can scroll and see all the tweets from accounts that you are following as well as recommended pages. When viewing these tweets, you can heart, comment, retweet or share them to your page and share them with your friends.
In summary, Twitter is a great social media tool used by many business accounts. This helps people get their store, product, name, etc. out in the world for more people to see. This app is one of the less complicated social medias but there can still be a lot more to offer than what I covered. Thank you for reading my blog and as always feel free to message me on any of my social medias linked on my home page if you have any questions or comments.
