Escape From Tarkov – The Hideout

12/28/2020 - Posts

The hideout is an essential tool in making Tarkov easier and fun.  Looking at the hideout can be overwhelming; how do we know what facility is best to construct?  Is there an order of construction that maximizes profit?  Are some facilities more useful than others?  All questions I hope to answer to make playing Tarkov more enjoyable.

My first time playing Tarkov, I barely upgraded any of my facilities.  This made my mid and late game harder to play.  Each facility offers small bonuses in and out of raids.  The real goal of upgrading the hideout was to produce profitable items to sell.  Most facilities have pre-requisites in player level and in the hideout itself.

Knowing the market within Tarkov can give us an advantage of what will be pricey.  Ammo, materials, and just about everything useful will be expensive for a while.  One solution is to sell excess materials while continuing to update the hideout.  The other solution is to sell all materials to make a large profit when costs are high.  This limits how quickly you can upgrade the hideout, but it also will be cheaper in the long run.  Hoarding the expensive late game items (like GPUs, water filters, SSDs) to maximize the profit when sold to players can also work.

To me, the goal of the hideout is to get the bitcoin farm operational.

  1. Construct whatever is necessary to obtain the farm.

  2. Save materials and GPUs (used in the bitcoin farm) to build and operate the farm

  3. Upgrading to level 2 bitcoin farm (inserting 25 GPUs) maximizes profit if you do not have time to log on and collect bitcoins every time (3 bitcoins in roughly 24hrs)

  4. Enjoy the game without having to do “bare” runs and keep the bitcoins rolling

The bitcoin farm will produce bitcoins that can be sold for many rubles.  After the large amount of time and rubles spent on attaining the bitcoin farm, the only upkeep is 40-90k worth of fuel (lasts 15-30hrs).  Bitcoins prices vary throughout the wipe and profits from the bitcoin farm are normally 10 – 50k an hour (including offline time).  Building the hideout and selling only the excess materials is my best recommendation to make in game money a minor obstacle.

I find that the water filter and moonshine generator normally even out in price and give minimal room for profit.  Do you find anything more profitable than the bitcoin farm?  If so, comment below to let me know!
