Cyberpunk 2077 First Hours

12/21/2020 - Posts

Logging into a new world is always exciting.  Even though most of us have seen similar scenarios, there is something alluring about it scarcely being explored.

My computers specifications are not amazing, and the game still looks good on medium.  I hope my specifications will give you an idea of how Cyberpunk will run on your machine.

                           My Basic Specs

Processor: i7-6700k CPU @ 4.00 GHz (8 CPUs)

Memory: 16 GB

Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB

Monitor: Sceptre P30 200Hz widescreen

On medium settings, I get roughly 50 frames per second (great use of my monitor….).  I thought this was low, but the game does not look like it runs this low.  Higher settings obviously lower my fps on high, I get roughly 30-40 FPS.  I think it runs higher than it says, but when intense processing happens within the game, I notice the drop on these higher settings.

                                          !!!!!POTENTIAL SPOILER!!!!!

The first few hours of the Cyberpunk are on “rails” and gives you and introduction to the story and gameplay.  All initial backgrounds, like, corpo, street kid, and nomad all end up working for the same big bad man, Dex.

The open world games we have begun to love does not start until you finish the first act (which is essentially what was shown in Cyberpunk’s trailer).  Once you are free from the tyrannical mold most games make you follow, you are free to go anywhere you want.  New missions and areas to explore are located everywhere.  The leveling system starts to open, and I have noticed another experience bar called street cred.  Street cred is gained from defeating certain foes and completing missions.  The max level is 50 within street cred (which is low considering I have it maxed in under 36 hours of play).  Every 6 to 8 levels within street cred opens more options when it comes to vendors within the game.  Cybernetic upgrades, weapons, modifications, upgrades, all open but at a significant cost to in game currency.

Start saving if you want the best early.  Come join me next time as I explore some more cybernetics and weapon types.
