Escape From Tarkov – Skills

Many new players may be confused to what or how to level your character in Tarkov.  Tarkov has a non-traditional leveling system that gives experience to what ever you are doing.  For instance, endurance is obtained by running in raid and metabolism is leveled by eating or drinking in raid.  Some levels are required to construct facilities within your hideout.  As we discussed previously, we want that bitcoin farm up and running!

 

During my initial time in Tarkov, I was confused on how to level metabolism, strength, and health.  All these skills are required to progress the hideout and missions given by dealers.  Which skill was more important?  What skill do I need to level the hideout?  Leveling also has diminishing return on experience values when done too often.

As your character depletes his food and water, metabolism is only leveled up by refilling those levels in raid.  Consuming food and drink out of raid do not level metabolism up.  Strength is leveled up by throwing grenades or running around while carrying too much equipment.  Grenades are costly and having a fully encumbered PMC is rare.  Health is leveled by gaining experience in strength, endurance, or vitality.  Health will level slowly and consistently as you play.  Some players bring in grenades to level strength or a ton of inexpensive gear.  Both methods are costly early on.

 

Always eat and drink in raid, I know I have repeated this many times, but it is important.  If you finish a raid and have low food and water levels, bring in food to the next raid.  I have wasted a ton of experience eating in the hideout and never new why my metabolism was not leveling.  Metabolism allows for prolonged raids.  Health reduces chance of fractures and reduces energy consumption.  Strength is important in developing the hideout and in carrying capacity.  Smoke grenades are the cheapest grenade, so I purchase those to level strength.  When I do become overweight in raid, I will run and jump near my exit.  While leveling these, health experience will follow.

 

These have been the methods I have been using for two wipes now.  If there is a more efficient method let me know!
