Michael Leo is a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he is dual majoring in Communications Media and Asian Studies with a concentration in the Japanese language. His interest in Japanese began during his freshman year in High School which ultimately lead to a Japan trip in 2017. Being fully immersed in the language and culture helped further his career in the Japanese language. Inspired by his trip, Michael enrolled in IUP during the fall of 2018. Michael wants to take on a career in Japan, whether it is teaching in a High School classroom or working for a Media Marketing Firm. When Michael is not busy with school work, he enjoys reading manga (Japanese comics) and creating digital art. Currently, Michael is setting his sights on one more trip to Japan before he makes his permanent move. In High School, Michael earned the award for being the best President in the Japanese Honor Society’s history. This award was given to him because he organized the first World’s Culture event that included all language departments and helped raise money for the school.
