Learning to let go

In this blog, I will be talking about graphic designers and becoming too attached to their work and not being able to scrap it and start over. A graphic designer needs to learn to be able to let go and start over. I am addressing this subject because it is very important more graphic designers. Not every time are you going to create a masterpiece on the first try, so if you feel the need to start over, just do it. This topic interested me because I sometimes tend to have this problem with myself when I am working on things. I want to try and save it and waste my energy when I should just start over from scratch.

The frustrations with not being satisfied with the work you are doing is overwhelming at times. While there will be times work can be saved, there will be more times when you just have to start over and head on a different path you previously were on. Other problems with this are if one is working in a team and the team is having problems not letting go of work that needs to be scrapped and restarted. This will create a division between teams because some are trying to hang onto a piece of work while others are ready to start anew.

Ways to solve these frustrations and problems is to have a team member who is in charge of scrapping projects. For them to scrap it, they would have to give logical reasoning behind it, and it needs to be clearly shown that the team is not making progress. A graphic designer should understand that a person’s best design is not from the first piece of work. Starting fresh is essential sometimes.

My opinion on the matter is that it is vital that a graphic designer knows when their project is not making any progress and that it is time to start fresh. One could use their ideas and mistakes in the previous work they had done to help them create a masterpiece in the next one. So have patience, don’t give up, and just know perfection takes time.

Alright audience, has there ever been a time that you were stuck on something that you had a feeling it was time to start over on? And what are things that one can do to minimize the amount of times they mess up on their work? Please, comment below I can’t wait to see your responses to this question and don’t forget to like and subscribe to my blog!

Saving Money

The topic for this post will be how companies can save their money. We all know that companies that are starting up want to make sure that they have enough money, so they create a budget for themselves and the company. I will be addressing this because it is important for companies to understand that sometimes you must spend money to begin with, to make money. This topic interested me because I want to be a future business owner and understanding this early will help me in the future.

A big misconception with this is that if you wait until after you have created and started your business, it will be cheaper to then hire a graphic designer. In truth, waiting until the end is actually going to be more expensive to the owner and could potentially make you lose money! If you get a designer at the beginning of the process of creating your business, they will have a longer time to put your visualization to work. To begin with, it would seem like you are paying more, but once your company is up and running and you have an attractive visual and are bringing in customers, then you will see it all played out well.

The best way as an owner to help themselves in this situation is to hire a graphic designer to begin with, so he can work as you come up with your brand, visual, and logo so that they can create a visual that best suits your ideals and can catch the attention of your audience. While, it is understood that a person wants to make sure that there company is able to actually be running before starting their advertising, it is recommended to get the visuals out the way so you can effectively build your company fitting for your brand.

my opinion on the matter is that I believe that investing your money early will be the most beneficial because an owner wouldn’t have to worry about their products being rushed by the designer and the designer wouldn’t feel rushed and potentially making a mistake. and to add on to that, once your visual is done and ready to be advertised, the company will have a longer time to be exposed to the targeted audience, so they know of the company when it begins running.

Now it is question time for my readers following on this. You are running a company and you are given the option of paying a little more at the beginning of the process but being more exposed by the time the company is opened, or waiting until your company is nearly up and running to find a graphic designer which will charge a little bit less but it will take time for your exposure to begin to take effect, what would you choose? and why? please reply to this in the comments I would love to see your answers below. Branding

A common problem that companies make when they are trying to begin advertising, is finding the proper branding for your business. First off, what is branding? Branding is essentially the identity of your company that you will give to your audience. I am addressing this problem because some companies don’t want to spend there money or there time on branding and it can be the mot important aspect of your company. And that is where graphic designers come in. Graphic designers will be able to deliver a strong brand to your company and companies tend to shy away because once again, they don’t want to invest there money into graphic designer.

Some of the concerns with branding when inside the company is if the investment will really be worth it. There are some owners who believe that they won’t need a brand to begin with and they’ll find other ways to gain exposure. While it can sometimes be pricey depending on the type of designs you want done, there is a greater reward than risk if it really has been giving the thought it should have. Once your brand is established, it will be easier for a graphic designer to create an ideal imagery of your company to the audience which will in turn, bring customers knocking on your doorsteps.

The best solution for this problem is to really take the time to focus on your brand and what you want your company to be about. An owner could bring a graphic designer onto his personal team so that they can both come up with a great brand for the company as well as creating the ideal image of the company that can go on there advertisements.

My opinion on this problem is that every company’s first step of starting a business should be to take the time to create a proper and unique brand that will fit your company’s reason for running and desires. If an owner needs help to create one, then they should receive help and ideas by either there co workers or someone very close to him. As a graphic designer, if you come up to me with a well thought brand for your company, it will be a lot easier to create the best visuals for your company.

Okay readers, if you guys and gals were to create a business from the ground up, what type of company would it be? what would your budget towards the visual appeal of your company be? And as a graphic designer, do you believe a brand is vital to create a efficient visual for a company. Average Salary

The topic for this blog will be the average annual salary for graphic designers. The average annual salary is what the average graphic designer makes on a yearly basis. It is including graphic designers who are just now starting, and seasoned workers. I am interested in this because it is a common question when finding a career for yourself. People tend to wonder “what is this career paying on average?” So why not explain it a little bit on here.

Some common problems with graphic designing is that starting out, the pay could potentially be low depending on where you are located. Some people believe that you can earn big money starting out, which you possibly could depending on yourself and having a good internship, experience, skills, etc. But for the majority, it is a pretty low starting job that you have to work your way up.

I have decided to do some research on the average salary in Indiana Pennsylvania and Maryland, and from what I found this is what I got. According to ZipRecruiter, the average annual salary of graphic designers in the state of Maryland is a range from $26,000 to $62,000. If I were to stay in Indiana Pa, the average salary would be approximately $34,024 according to CareerExplorer. As you can see, because there is not a range like ZipRecruiter has, you can’t really know the highs of Indiana Pa compared to Maryland

My opinion on this matter is that if you know starting out you will not receive as much money, to maybe choose a location better for you financially. Personally, Indiana or Maryland will be good starting points for me because I have family and friends in each area and I won’t struggle to find roommates. But I do not mind working my way up, because then that will make me feel the need to perform better so I can get that raise and increased salary.

My question to the audience is do you guys think that an average $34,000 is a good starting point? and would you take that salary, knowing you will have the opportunity to raise your salary? Update On My Graphic Designing Career

Today, will be more of a personal topic. I began searching for different internships over the summer that I can do that involves graphic designing. I am addressing it today because I want my audience to really know the process I have been going through to achieve my dream career after college. I am interested in this topic because I feel like it is also a big step in my career.

Problems that I have found throughout my search for an internship is finding the most comfortable spot for me. I want to be able to have multiple offers so that I can choose the best one fitting for me instead of having one and potentially not liking it. Another problem for me is determining my location, I do not know yet if I want to stay close to home or search in a different location.

Solutions for me would be to really consult my adviser, and people that I know who have the best intentions for me. For me, I am a person that needs someone I can weigh my options out to and that they help me think about location and the next step of my career in different perspectives.

I viewed one in Indiana and two more in Maryland, and I filled out an application for all three of them in. I spoke to the two companies in Maryland and I liked what they had to say and what they were about, now I am just waiting to get back to school so I can talk to the different businesses in Indiana in person when I return for the spring semester. The business that I applied for in Maryland is a little ways from me but the other one is a lot closer.

Now, I have a question for the audience. Would you wait to fully commit to a certain company even though you felt like it would be a good spot for you, to finish talking to companies in Indiana so that you can weigh all your options, or commit to that company so that you have a definite place for your internship? Please feel free to answer below in the comments, I look forward to seeing your answers! Also please feel free to like and subscribe to my blog!

Selecting My Location

In this blog, I will be speaking about determining the location of where you want to begin your career. The location is where you can see yourself living potentially for the majority of your career, so it is something you should take into careful consideration. This is interesting for me because I have a lot of options of where I want to live whether it is in Pennsylvania, Maryland, or somewhere else.

The problem with selecting a location to work is the influence you have. If someone is in a relationship, then that could affect their location as well as their pay. Also if someone does not want to leave their family or friends, then it could affect their location and pay as well. The main problem with selecting your location are the sacrifices you possibly have to take. One could sacrifice there relationships and choose somewhere far but pays a lot more or choose somewhere close, and sacrifice there pay.

There are two different sides to this problem which to be honest, isn’t neither a wrong answer. If you want to go far for extra pay sacrificing your relationships, then that is a decision that you made believing that was for the best. If you want to sacrifice some extra pay to stay close to family and friends, then that is also your choice. Who knows, you could get a job offer close to home and great pay! But I believe that it is your decision and you can’t be wrong.

Personally, I have questions for myself that I ask when searching for a job. After graduation, do I plan on staying in Indiana or going back home? Is it a good fit for me? Is this a place I can see myself living in for potentially the rest of my life? For one, I do not know yet where I plan to stay so I would as they say, let life take me in the wind. If i find something worth staying it would be an opportunity I would definitely have to consider but on the flip side I have stayed in Maryland my whole life and that is where I am most comfortable and I can really see myself spending the rest of my life there.

If you were given the choice of being away from family and friends but earning a better pay, or staying near home but receiving less pay than if you left, which one would you choose and why? please feel free to comment below your answers, I look forward to hearing your answers and reasoning!  Also please feel free to like and subscribe to my blog!

Finding Internships

Today, I will be speaking of the process of finding the right internship for you. An internship is a way for someone to gain experience in their profession by working under businesses specializing in there intended career. I am addressing this today because some people can struggle to find internships or can choose an internship  that does not fit for them and then they regret it. I am interested in this topic today because this is the next step of my life, and I want to try and help people so that they don’t make mistakes and end up losing interest as a result.

Common problems that come with finding internships is not taking the time to find the internship that will fit for you. If someone is trying to become a graphic designer, then it would not be best to choose an internship that focuses on accounting. Secondly, would be locations. Some internships could potentially be far away from you but it is the only business that is currently looking for internships.

The solution for this problem is just to really take the time in selecting your internship. One should begin searching for internships in there first half of college and really take the time to speak, interact, and ask questions with the managers and owners so that you can be in there mind when they do have openings for interns. On top of that, if you are speaking with them and learning more about there company and what they stand for, you will be able to get a better feeling if it is the right fit for you.

I am currently in the process of finding a comfortable internship as well. Currently I have begun to do my research on multiple companies and internship opportunities for not only Indiana, but for my home state of Maryland as well.  The next step for me is to find a company where I would feel the most comfortable at and the way I am searching is by if the company is a place where I can see myself starting a career here. For me, I want to find a business who are passionate about there work and are comfortable to be around.

For the audience, When did you have your first internship? And how did you fit in with your peers? Was a place you wanted to build a career at, or did you dislike it and couldn’t wait to leave? Please feel free to comment your answers below, I look forward to hearing your replies. Also, don’t forget to like and subscribe to my blog!

Skills NEEDED to be successful graphic designer

The topic that I will be speaking of in this blog will be the skills needed to become a successful graphic designer. One should try to increase the amount of skills that they have at their disposal because the more you possess, the better off you will be. The reason I am addressing it is because I do feel like this is the most important aspect or becoming a successful graphic designer.

Some common misconceptions that people can make is that skills are something that you must be a natural at to have. Many people believe that you cannot learn skills throughout your career. No, that is not true. You can learn skills throughout your whole life, all you need is gain experience which will help you learn new skills that are needed to be successful. Some often-asked questions are what the most important skill is needed to become a great graphic designer,

The most important skill a successful graphic designer needs is creativity. Creativity is vital in this field of work because you need to be able to create content that will satisfy not only the company but the people that will see it as well. the other skills that are recommended would be communication skills, technological skills, typology and coding capabilities, and delivering presentations.

I am confident that I possess these qualities needed to become a successful graphic designer and I am also confident that my creativity will take me places that will further improve my skills and future. I believe that a person should really gain their skills through internships, so that they can not only gain work experience, but the company can groom them into becoming a successful graphic designer. Especially if the company you are at is your ideal company that you want to begin your career at, then you will want to soak up all the knowledge from them you can.

Question for the audience, what do you believe are important skills that graphic designers need to become successful? what do you think is the best way to obtain these skills? Please feel free to comment your answers under, I look forward to seeing your replies! Also please like and subscribe to my blogs as well if you have the chance!

The demand for graphic designers

The topic that I will be focusing on will be the demand for graphic designers. The demand for graphic designers is the need for businesses, whether new or existing, to use them to help get their name out to an audience by advertisements, posters, or billboards. I am addressing it because the demand for them has been increasing over the years as we transition to a more technological generation.

The common concerns with people who are deciding if they want to pursue a degree in graphic design is if the demand for that career is high or low. A student would not want to pursue a career in designing if in 3 to 4 years, the demand for graphic designers will have decreased.

Addressing this concern, businesses are steadily rising with the increasing businesses and the number of ways a company can expose themselves. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, from 2018 to 2028, the demand for graphic designers will approximately increase by 3 percent.

I believe that this is good news because the more graphic designers that are needed, only means that there is more work for graphic designers. But more importantly, there are more businesses starting up and growing. Researching on this topic, has given me more motivation to finish school and to stay optimistic in pursuing an internship.

Now, for my readers. Did you think that the demand for graphic designers was important? And how significant do you think graphic designers are to help a business strive? Please, feel free to comment your answers below and like and subscribe to my blogs!

Being a graphic designer

The topic today will be how one can become a successful graphic designer. To be a successful graphic designer, one should have the ability to catch the reader’s attention quickly. Most places that these advertisements are going are places where the reader will not have a long time to read such as billboards on roads and posters on walls. I am addressing this because before I delve into the deeper concepts of graphic designing, I should start with the basic topics so that people who are not familiar with graphic designers can get a faint idea. It is interesting because one should know what qualities a successful graphic designer will need.

Some common concerns with graphic designing are that if you are not artistic, you will not be a successful one. Many people shy away from graphic designing because they believe that drawing and sketching plays a big role in it. While it can, it is not true that you must be able to draw to be successful.

as a graphic designer, you the most important thing you will need is creativity. With creativity, you will make a reader stop and become interested in what is on the advertisement by making it stand out.  Secondly, another skill is the ability to stay organized and making it easily readable. A graphic designer should be able to stay organized so that they won’t mistake work for others or other things such as misspelling. On the advertisement, it shouldn’t have big words so that they don’t understand what is really written but words easily readable that will make reading it a lot smoother. Most of the work is digital so drawing is not really something that is needed in this day in age.

Personally, I am not a good drawer, but I make up for it with my creativity. I still have a lot to do in order to become a successful graphic designer, but I hope that with experience and belief in my abilities, I will soon reach the point where I can own my own business.

Question for the audience, what do you believe is the most important trait needed to become a successful graphic designer? please feel free to comment your answers below, I will be looking forward to seeing them! Also, I would appreciate it if you guys would take the time to like and subscribe my blogs!
