Up, Up, and eBay!

Choosing to sell on eBay (WallDesk).

The largest online market where one could sell glasses is on eBay. This might be a good place to try because of the large audience it reaches. However, it has its share of problems. As it is a company, it will want a percentage of the profits.

At eBay, there are numerous obstacles to face. To be able to start selling, know their rules. They are very strict when it comes to their guidelines. Almost anything can be sold on this site, but there will be some fees that you will have to pay. There’s a fee to list an item and a final value fee, including the shipping, which is usually ten percent. Also, to be able to set a price, factor in what was spent for the glass, the shipping, and the fees to make a profit. Then, take your own pictures. Using others’ photos or stock photos is not allowed unless permission is given (but those rules are very strict too).

While eBay makes it possible to jump right in to start selling, it is wise to step back, read the eBay policies, and understand what can cause account restrictions and suspensions. By familiarizing ourselves with these rules, it should be a smoother experience. The listing fees are not very high, most items can be around thirty cents each. So, listing a few more items won’t break the bank. After an item sells, eBay will take its percentage from the total sale which is like a commission other stores would normally charge for items in their shops. Work that amount into pricing items, so as not to lose much profit. Taking your own pictures shouldn’t be hard; the item is right at hand. Most of us own smartphones that have a camera built right in, or we all know someone with one who would be more than happy to take a few pictures.

Unfortunately, I cannot give a recommended solution due to my lack of experience with selling on eBay. However, I can give my opinion on it. When looking to sell to a larger audience, this is the way to go. The fees are minimal, so any loss isn’t much if factored in with the price. However, don’t expect to sell anything right off the bat. If it doesn’t go the first time, try again. There is no right way to selling, just stick to it and find a method that’s comfortable for you. And above all, use common sense, good observation, and research and communication skills so anyone can become a successful seller on eBay.
