This was a great weekend to be in Los Angles, as all the stars were out for the B.E.T Music Awards. Every year this award show takes place and the hip-hop world tunes in. However, this years ratings were just sub par. You’d think with the shows theme being based off the box office smash-hit ‘Black Panther’ that people would be gung-ho about it, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Maybe they need a total revamp. They had a good host this year in Jamie Foxx, but the jokes they had him read from the teleprompter weren’t nearly as funny as he really is, so that was a little disappointing. The nominations this year were also all over the place. They had artist going against each other for awards that were almost like an automatic win. As a viewer you basically knew who was going to take home every award last night. In my honest opinion, what I saw last night was artist win solely off of popularity. If the actual music was being judged last night I feel like there would have been a major change in who was taking home awards. Never the less, that wasn’t the case. And to be honest, I think that is a big reason the viewer totals for the night was the lowest it has been in some years. In addition to the nominations being a turn off, there were only about three of four good performances. And after the performance ‘Meek Mill’ gave I don’t think people really cared to much for any performance that was to come. That was the time of performance you end a show with. So for that, I am disappointed with B.E.T for this years awards show. For future shows, I really think they should get back to tradition because the old awards shows were always amazing. Something has got to change though, if not there won’t be anymore B.E.T Music Awards because the fans won’t want to watch anymore. Do you agree? If you do if you don’t, I’m sure the people would like to leave their two cents on the matter as well, so do send this thread and circulate the CURRENT-cy.
