A chilling vision into what may lay beyond dreams
A horror story that will really keep readers up at night, Lucid Nightmares peers into the dark secrets of the void of sleep. Fear and danger often plagues our nights, until we escape to the safety of the waking world. But, what if you couldn’t escape it? What if your nightmares refused to leave? If you’ve ever worried about what disturbing things wait in your unconscious mind – or if there’s something even deeper – this is the story to haunt your dreams.
Many of us have been hounded by nightmares, often brought on my stresses and fears from our waking lives. Some of us may even have experienced recurring nightmares, repeatedly reliving the same construction of our subconscious fears. But, what if the nightmares were always from the same place, and the real danger came from when they changed? What if your sleep was replaced with a time of peril and suspense that waking could not clear from your head? What if nightmares weren’t just in your mind? This story follows a young woman, getting a fresh start on life, who is forced to live the torture of these very questions. In her search to bury the pain of her past, Melanie finds that she may have dug too deep a grave.
This story is a rare glimpse into the ways our fears can overcome us, and into the philosophical question of how much we really know about dreams. We have all had nightmares, and the idea of nightmares affecting our waking lives is something that has been popular in the horror genre before. However, this story poses the question of whether losing our lives is really the most frightening thing that could come from nightmares. If you’ve ever wondered how safe the waking world really is, and where dreams can really take you, then this is the story for you. Remember that you were warned, and sweet dreams….
Author’s Note:
I have always had a love for creative writing, especially in terms of fiction. While I have a passion for trying out new methods, ideas, and even genres, horror and suspense are something new to me. However, I have always been a fan of the genre, and find the chance to write something that makes the reader’s blood run cold a wonderful opportunity. Despite being plagued by my own troubles and demons – consequently causing me to tend toward reading and writing more light-hearted works – I have always found profound ease and interest in writing the compelling and dramatic. I hope I can live up to expectations, yours and my own. If nothing else, I have enjoyed working on this story.
