Are there things you’d like to see me do more on my blog like tutorials?

Well I’ve thought that maybe I can turn my blog into my favorite blog I mentioned in the beginning called swim chick. I feel like there’s a lot of self teaching when it comes to design so maybe it would be best if I take request on what you guys would like to learn. Its my way of helping others only because this is the way I learned to do everything I know besides the things learned in school.

Have you ever felt scared because of other majors trying to belittle your major?

Well no worries stay calm and continue to design! It doesn’t matter if your not a doctor or not, as long as you really and truly love what you do. Do what interests you and what you can see yourself doing 5 years from now etc. Don’t let anyone try to talk you out of becoming someone because another profession pays more. At the end of the day who wouldn’t want to get paid for doing what they love?

So there’s many different kind of designers within the communications media field. There are print graphic designers that only focuses on print products. There’s logo designers that focus alone on logos. Also there’s digital designers who create ad’s and whatever graphics that appear online.

Do you know which one is for you ? Well the only way to really find out is to at least try out one of each just to see if it’s for you. That’s what I ended up doing in my graphics communications class. While taking that class I also found out which Adobe program I liked using the most. Which is also something you will figure out as well when trying each thing out

As you guys know my favorite program is Photoshop, what’s your favorite program and what kind of designing do you like to do?

The only way you’ll get better at something is of you practice and try to perfect your craft. Designing has to be a continuous thing when practicing.

Do you try to at least make a project a couple times of the week ? If not there’s ways to get into that habit you can google tutorials and practice. There’s many tutorials out there especially on YouTube.

Are you at the stage where it’s time to start applying to jobs? Do you think you have what it takes to get hired at your dream job ?

Well majority of design jobs wants the individual to be well rounded in their field. Most jobs want a designer to know how to use majority of the Adobe Creative Suite. They also have ant you to have experience using both operating systems of a Mac and a PC. Make sure you look up a job you’d like to acquire and see what’s the requirements and work ahead self teach yourself some skills they require if it’s not offered to you. Having thos experiences under your belt will make you a qualified candidate for the job. But especially if you self teach yourself jobs like things like that because they will know your a fast learner in a sense.

So do you think that you have what it takes to acquire your dream job ?

Did you ever just want to work for some good amount of money on the side while doing what you love? Well check out free lancing. Free lancing is basically a short term job that pays you not like a regular job where you get paid every two weeks. This job they pay you to make some graphic they would want and you negotiate a price with them of how ever much you charge for your services. Its a pretty good way for designers to get a feel for an actual designing job before working in the real world of work. You get to set your prices on how much you’d charge to do certain projects which is pretty cool.

If you are thinking about majoring in or want to go to school for graphic design the number one thing you have to keep in mind is that a portfolio of your work is a must. But not everything you design should go into your portfolio, you want to showcase your best work so everyone can see what your capable of.

What qualifies as portfolio ready ? That’s a good question we aren’t good judges on our own work sometimes so its best to show case your work to others and see which one is the best. But its also a good habit to work on projects like its going to be the best one yet. That’s how you really perfect your craft with continuous drive. At the same time they say the projects you work on and think its going to be bad sometimes turn out to be the best ones.

Do you ever wonder how graphic designers go about their projects the way they do? Or even wonder how they even end up going the route they chose to do something?

They used their imagination. We have to be open minded to everything when it comes to design. Being flexible an using your imagination will help people create extraordinary work. Don’t get me wrong I over think and over analyze everything but sometimes you have to ease up and try to have fun with your work. Most of the times the projects you have more fun with and just go out of your comfort zone turn out to be the best.

Of course I had to use a Spongebob meme for this post only because I am the biggest Spongebob fan ever!
