Hey, guys! I’ve been mulling over that crtypid reading we had a few weeks ago! I thought it was really interesting, cryptids and conspiracies are my two greatest loves.

Cryptids In the Harry Potter-verse

Would there be room for cryptids in the Wizarding World? I don’t believe so. As we see with Newt Scamander in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them he dedicates his life to finding and documenting all the beasts he can find. Many of these are mythical creatures we don’t hold much stock in in our mundane lives. Newt and those picking up his mantel will likely find and document all creatures the world has to offer.

This will take away the main aspect of being a cryptid- the mystery. If the mystery is gone and people are able to read a book on where to find these creatures they can no longer be considered a cryptid.

These thoughts are all still swirling around in my head so I’ll need to structure this a bit more but I’m definitely going to bring in the giant squid and unicorns to support my argument.
