Please note, the first thing you should do in a situation like this is make sure your version of Photoshop is up to date. Second is to try reinstalling it. After you’ve tried these two methods, troubleshoot Photoshop with the methods below.

Method one, disabling the OpenGL Drawing preference. In the preferences settings (Ctrl +K), under the Performance tab, disable the “Enable Open GL Drawing” checkbox. Then close out of and restart Photoshop. If the options to Enable Open GL Drawing are faded, then your video card does not support OpenGL. OpenGL is what allows Photoshop to work with the computers GPU instead of its main processor. This can make the editing process much smoother, but it can also cause bugs in Photoshop if your video card is unsupported.

Method two is to manage your bit modes. If you’re editing an image from an older version of Photoshop than your own, this is most likely your problem. Photoshop CS5 and CS6 run on a 64-bit system by default. While all the previous editions run on 32-Bit systems.  To fix this in windows, simply close Photoshop. Then, from the Program Files (x86) folder. Navigate to Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5. Then double click Adobe Photoshop CS(5/6).exe file. This should fix the problem, but remember that running Photoshop in 32-Bit will mean that you’ll have to stick to smaller file sizes in order for Photoshop to run smoothly.

Method three is to attempt in seting a different default printer. After you do this, restart Photoshop. This is the simplest method, but this method worked for me when I experienced this issue. This method is also the fastest, so you might want to try it first after you make sure that your version of Photoshop is updated properly.

So what other problems in Photoshop have you encounter with no easy solution?
