Dribbling the ball is one of the most important aspects of playing basketball. Losing the ball, dribbling it off your foot, getting the ball stolen and others are results of not being able to dribble well. It’s very frustrating and can limit you from being a contributor to your team. But there are ways to get past these struggles. I’ll tell you about them.
Being a poor ball handler is a huge disadvantage to yourself and to your teammates. When your team is getting trapped your teammates can’t rely on you. Your coach won’t trust you to have the ball in your hands or in any tough situations. He will look at you as a liability on the court. Also your teammates won’t trust you to dribble or make plays. They will just expect you to be able to shoot when you are open or pass the ball when you catch it. They will categorize you as a role player and not trust you. So if your teammates and your coach doesn’t trust you then your playing time will be very limited.
The best solutions to dribbling usually can come from certain workouts you follow. There are workouts for separation moves. Which are moves that get you away from defenders to put you or your team in a better position to score. There are also videos that help you beat pressure, such as traps and different types of defense. So you should try to do these daily.
The solution to work on your handling is to dribble daily. Work on certain things you do in a game. Work on certain moves you need to incorporate into your game. You must stay consistent and keep pushing to be the best player you can be. Then you will see a complete difference.
Did you ever buy a workout plan or dvd to help you improve your dribbling and it was useless? Have you ever tried things that didn’t help at all? Stick to what works for you. If it’s being promoted by a NBA player or someone that has used it, then I would give it a shot. Other than that I would just stick to the fundamentals.
Any questions you have or other concerns don’t be afraid to ask questions. I will respond to them in future blog posts. To know when new posts are up please like, share and subscribe to my blog. Thank you for all the support. Don’t forget to keep dribbling!
