Beating a full Court Press

Do other teams always press your team? Is your team getting eight second calls frequently? Do you throw a lot of turnovers when they press? These are all problems caused by a full court press. So you must be here to figure out how to beat a full court press. You have come to the right place. Let’s figure this out.

The full court press is a way to slow down your opponents. This makes them eat up clock and if they get over half court it will leave them with a short amount of time to run a play. Their offense will be rushed and will cause them to make more mistakes. Secondly, it causes the other team more likely to turn the ball over. That gives their opponent more opportunities to score the ball. These are just a few of the ways a full court press affects teams.

There are a few solutions I have to this problem. First, you should study the different types of the press. Find out how it works and which ways to beat it. Secondly, I would run plays against the zone. Plays that you run will confuse the other team. It will make them overthink and cause them to make mistakes. Which in turn will give you opportunities to break the press. These are a few ways to make it easier. But I can recommend some things that are better.

I would recommend that you find gaps in the zone. Move to open spots in the zone. Go to spots that your opponents are. Just do everything reversed of what they do. It will give more opportunities in certain places. Then I would try to get the ball in the middle of the floor. That’s the easiest way to beat the press. It forces the other

Out of Bound Plays

Out of bounds plays aren’t that frequent in a basketball game. But they can completely change a game. A problem that you face is getting turnovers by the other team stealing the ball. Another problem is not being able to get the ball inbounds and getting a five second call. These are the ways out of bounds plays turn sour.

If you’re reading this blog to learn how to effectively get the ball inbounds then you obviously struggle in these situations. You’re either throwing turnovers to the other team or are getting five second calls because your teammates can’t get open. Either way it’s not a good sign. You’re just giving the other team the ball for more opportunities to score. That’s the easiest way to lose the game. By having so many turnovers and the other team converting.

A few solutions I have to solve the problem are to react to what the defense is giving you. If they are allowing you to throw it in the back court, then throw it in the back court. If they are letting you throw the ball in to get trapped, then take the trap because that means someone is open. Another solution is to call a timeout before you get a five seconds call. Any coach would rather take more time to think than a turnover.

I recommend that you play things smart. Find the open gaps in the defense if they are playing zone. If they are playing man to man then your players must get in their body and find a way to get open. Also I would run plays to get open. Set different types of screens and have multiple movements going on at once to try to confuse the defense. Lastly, I would just be patient and execute. Nothing will get done if you force things and overthink.

Is this how you were taught to face out of bounds defense? Do you agree with my ways? If you don’t why not? All your feedback is encouraged. I would love to hear what you guys have to say about my posts. Whether you like it, hate it, don’t care or just think it’s ok. Make sure you comment.

Out of bounds plays are very crucial to a game. Make sure you practice them as much as you practice shooting. It’s all needed to win. Please like, comment, share and subscribe to see all my posts. Thank you for the support.

How to slow down fast pace team?

Is your opponent flying up and down the court scoring on you? They are getting easy fast break layups? Your team is having trouble getting back on defense? That’s because this team loves to play at such a fast pace. They are using their speed to try to win the game. So how does this look for your team?

This causes your team to have to try to keep up in transition. You will be giving up easy layups that will help the other teams momentum. They will be more conditioned and not get tired as fast. If the game continues to go this way, it usually results in your team losing. They continue to score easily and your team has to work for every shot.

A few solutions to this problem are to have at least two people each possession sprint back on defense when a shot is put up. This will stop the team from getting in transition so easily. Another solution is to try to press the team. Try to force them to turnover the ball so you have more opportunities to score. When they start turning the ball over they will be more conservative and hopefully take their time on offense. These solutions can cause such a huge difference in the game but these aren’t even the best ways to correct this problem.

I recommend that you counteract them and on offense be smart. Use up as much time on the clock before you take a shot. Make the other team play at your pace. This will force them to have to guard you every possession for thirty seconds or more. Guarding for this long is not a skill for a lot of teams. This will allow the offensive team to capitalize on the other team’s mistakes. Lastly, I would set up in a full court zone on defense. Not to press but just to slow them down. Make them take shots in the half court since that’s not what they are good at.

Would you take this approach? Is that how you would slow the other team down? If not don’t forget to post your thoughts or ideas in the comments. I love to hear your thoughts just as much as I like to write these. This blog is for us. Don’t forget to use it.

How to speed opponents up?

Are you playing a lot of slow paced teams? Do they slow the game down and try to run sets every play? Every basketball player has faced a team like this. It’s usually because they aren’t that good or they don’t want your team to get the opportunity to score that much. They just stick to their game plan and see how it goes.

This causes so many problems for the opposing team they face. It gives the other team less possessions to score the ball because they just run plays and wait until the last ten seconds of the clock to score. They will obviously have the ball longer than the other team for the duration of the game. It also forces the other team to try to score and get more points fast on the other end since they don’t have the ball that often. This may cause them to force shots, make mistakes and hurt themselves even more.

A few solutions to this problem is to try to get in transition when you get the ball. Force the other team to keep up with your defense. Force them to sprint up and down the court. This will tire them out which will allow the bench players to come in. The bench players aren’t usually as good as the starters so you just exploit their bad habits. Another solution is to just play smart and capitalize on their mistakes. Every team makes mistakes and when you score from it that puts a lot of pressure on the opposing team.

I recommend that you press the team. Force them to make quick decisions and put them in uncomfortable situations. It’s not always going to result in great things happening but when they start turning the ball over and making mistakes it will benefit you. Full court pressing will speed them up to try to get the ball over half court. But a 2-3 zone will force them to make quick decisions, will make them take unwanted and used shots. Which helps you in winning the game.

Conditioning in Basketball?

Are you or your teammates out of shape? When you’re in the game does it feel extremely fast paced to you? These are all problems of you or your teammates being out of shape. Do your opponents score a lot more points than you every game? Conditioning is a huge part of any sport. You have to win.

Not being in shape as a player puts a lot of pressure on your teammates? You struggle getting back on defense. Which allows the other team to get easy opportunities at more points. You struggle making it up the court on offense which gives the other team opportunities to trap and get turnovers. All these things put your team in a bad spot. Which will cause the coach to not want to play you.

There are many options to get some conditioning in for basketball. You could always get on the treadmill and run some miles. You could even go on the track and do the same thing as well. You can go on the field or on the basketball court and run sprints. All these things will help build up your endurance. Which will help you tremendously on the court.

There are many options to get in shape but my recommended solution is to play in as many pickup or regular basketball games as you can. Basketball is a game of back and forth but it’s not always full speed and it’s not always at a slow speed. The speed of the game changes dramatically in different situations. So playing basketball games will help you get used to that. My other recommendation is to go full speed in basketball drills. Train like you’re already in the game. So when it’s time to play you’ll already be prepared to play at a fast pace.

Conditioning is huge in all sports but especially basketball. If you have any more suggestions or comments don’t be afraid to post them on my site. I will get back to them as soon as possible. Your feedback means the world to me. Post as many as you like and I will get back to them all.

Kobe Bryant Influence

Kobe Bean Bryant will always be remembered as a husband, father, sibling, and an amazing person. But no one will ever be able to discredit him for the things he did on the basketball court. He is debatably a top ten basketball player of all time. But others feel his legacy was bigger off the court than what it was on the court.

A lot of people don’t understand that before Kobe was the player we know, he lived in Italy with his parents. His father played professional basketball over there so Kobe learned to play European style of play then came back to the states. He had already learned a lot about basketball from his father. As he got older he started to pick up on things of his own. Like in a fourth grade basketball game he scored sixty points. I know, that sounds ridiculous but he understood that kids his age struggled going left. So he forced them left and when they tried to come back to their strong hand he would steal the ball. So basketball was a huge part of his life from the beginning. He played basketball for forty years.  Why is it even a question of which legacy of his holds more weight.

Kobe will always be known for his NBA play. His first four seasons weren’t that good. Then in a playoff game he airmailed four time in a game. After that he declared that he would never have a season like that again. His work ethic was unmatched. He got off the plane in LA that night around 2 am and went straight to a gym. He didn’t leave the gym until around 6 am. This explains how he worked everyday from there on out. His trainer used to get calls from him around 3 or 4 in the morning, asking him to workout weekly. His mindset was to workout more than anyone else everyday. So over a long period of time you wouldn’t even be close to the work he has put in. Those are a few suggestions of why his legacy was so unmatched on the basketball court.

I would suggest if you’re talking about legacy look at what he has done. he won five championships. He scored 81 points in a game before. His final game he scored sixty points. These things are so hard to accomplish. So I get he was an amazing person. But Kobe will always be known for basketball.

Do you believe I’m wrong?  Do you think what happened to him and his daughter defines his legacy? Please don’t be afraid to let me know. I want to know how you guys feel.

Kobe Bryant will always be considered to be one of the best basketball players to ever live. No matter the debate he was amazing on and off the court. His work outside of basketball has shaped so many younger women to want to push and fight to be the best version of themselves. He had that affect on people where he pushed them no matter the circumstances. There will never be another person like Kobe. Please like, share and subscribe.

Michael Jordan’s Influence

Michael Jefferey Jordan is without a doubt considered to be the greatest basketball player to ever touch a basketball to many people. When he was playing he was electrifying. Everyone wanted to watch because they knew something special could happen at any moment. But a lot of people question whether his legacy is more about his shoes compared to his actual basketball career.

Michael Jordan didn’t become great when he got to the NBA, it all started in college. As a freshman at North Carolina he won rookie of the year and recorded thirteen points a game. He even hit the game winning shot in the national championship as a freshman. He went on to play two more seasons at North Carolina. In those seasons he averaged twenty points his second year and nineteen his third year. He won national player of the year in his second and third year. Which just goes to show how dominant he was in his years of college before he even earned his shoe deal. How can someone’s legacy be more about shoes than his actual game play when he is putting up numbers like this.

I would suggest looking at his legacy throughout the NBA. As a rookie, he won player of the year and averaged twenty- eight points a game. Which brought so much buzz around his name. He got his first shoe deal his first season because of how well he was performing.  He only played in eighteen games his second season because of injuries. But his third season he came back from injury and played all eighty-two games and averaged thirty-seven points a game. He showed dominance in basketball since the beginning.

My advice is to look at his resume. Look at how much he accomplished in such a short period of time. Winning six championships and being undefeated when making it to the finals. He won MVP many seasons and even won MVP of every single finals series he played in. He even went on to be a part of the Dream Team. Which is thought of to be one of the best, if not the best Olympic teams ever.

How can someone’s legacy be shoes when they did so much for the game. Do you agree? Do you feel his shoe status outweighs his game play? I would like to hear your feedback.

Michael Jordan is the best basketball player ever. What he did hasn’t been matched to this day. His legacy is mainly about basketball but it’s crazy to see how he changed the shoe culture as well. But it doesn’t even come close to  his game play. To see more posts like these please like, share and subscribe. Thank you for the support.

Boxing Out

Rebounding is one of the most important aspects of basketball. It limits the other team from getting second opportunities at scoring who they are on offense. As well as giving you more opportunities on the offensive end when your team is trying to score and has the basketball. The is one of the easiest ways to control a game without actually scoring. But what happens when you’re on the opposite ends of these things? Usually your team loses. Getting out rebounded is always one of the keys coaches look at when they lose.

When you get out rebounded as a team then it results in your opponent having more opportunities to score. In most sports the team who has more points wins the game. So this is an obvious problem but other problems can arise from poor box outs such as fouls. Fouls benefit the other team in multiple ways. The first way is it puts your team in foul trouble and forces you to either take people out of the game or they will foul out. Secondly, when you get seven fouls as a team any time your team is fouled after that they get a chance to go to the free throw line and get free points. So either way you’re giving your opponent more ways to ultimately win the game.

Rebounding is an art. It’s all about body positioning and the ways you use your momentum. All my life I learned to first locate your opponent, attack them first and then completely turn around and use your butt to push them out of the way. It’s a very effective way to box people out. It’s what kids are taught all over the world. But I learned a better way.

I learned this technique of boxing out from my current college coach. I find it way more effective than any other way I’ve learned. You face box your opponent and rely on your teammates to get the rebound or you completely shield the opponent away from the ball and you just grab it. I was taught this was wrong all my life until I got to my current school. One of the best pieces of advice I have ever learned from a coach. It helped me tremendously in the game of basketball.

Which way were you taught to box out? Did you find this way effective? Have you ever tried the other way? These are all questions you need to ask yourself. Or you can post them to my blog and we can answer them together. I’m always here to answer or respond to any comments.

Rebounding is a huge part of basketball. It’s also just a small portion of things we talk about on this blog. To see my recent post please like, share and subscribe. You won’t regret it. Thank you for the support.

Different Position in Basketball

In basketball there are always five people on the basketball court at a time for each team. This is common knowledge if you watch basketball, or if you just look on the court when people are playing. But speaking to a lot of people who aren’t too familiar with the game are always confused about the positions. They don’t really get the concept of what each player does or what’s their role. But it’s not that simple, no position has a specific role. It’s all based on the team and what pieces they have.

Having a conversation with someone like your grandmother who doesn’t know too much about basketball is the easiest way to get a laugh in. They are clueless and seeing them try to understand what you are saying on the first try is comical. It just doesn’t click for them. The funniest part is that if you ask them about that conversation thirty minutes later they would have no clue as to what you were talking about. It’s just all a blur. Not knowing the positions in sports causes more confusion and chaos if you already don’t really understand the rules of the game.

One of the best options to helping people get the concept is to explain it to them. Make them understand what you’re saying by breaking it down to them. Even if that means putting it in terms they can understand or comprehend. It will benefit you in the long run because at least they will know what’s going on now. They will be able to enjoy something that means a lot to you.

The best option to help your peers or people who don’t understand the game of basketball is to sit them down in front of a television and let them watch the game. Let them figure things out about the game on their own. See if they will develop an interest in the game. Understanding the positions is easy . It goes point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center. Or you can keep them in that order and go 1-5.

A lot of misconceptions come with finding out these positions. A lot of people think just because you’re the point guard you have to bring the ball up. Or just because you’re the shooting guard means you’re the best shooter on the floor. That’s not true at all. It’s just positions that people fill. The best five players on the team will play and try to help the team win.

If you have any further questions on this topic or more about basketball don’t be afraid to post more questions. I will respond to them as soon as possible. To see my recent posts like, share and subscribe to the blog. You will not regret this decision. Thanks for the support.
