My name is Rachel Williams and I am currently a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. This coming August, I will be graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communications Media. I have lived in the Johnstown area for the last nine years, but I am hoping to relocate to Pittsburgh after I complete school.
Throughout my college career, I have worked in a variety of different positions to support myself while getting my education. Along with that, I have been doing internships in order to gain experience in my field and to help me decide what I am passionate about. In the summer of 2016, I worked as a marketing intern at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. Before this internship, I was heavily focused on production and not so much the marketing side of Communications, however, I learned to love marketing.
After my internship last summer, I decided that marketing was something I wanted to learn more about. I am currently working as a marketing/public relations intern with the Johnstown Tomahawks while also working part-time as a Lead Sales Associate at a local Hallmark store. I love that I am getting another chance to learn more about an aspect of my field that I was not once familiar with, and would love to have the opportunity to make a career out of marketing.
In what little free time I have, I love working as a Production Assistant on film sets and I was a part of the Student Film Association at IUP. While in school, I took some photography classes that got me interested in photography, so that has become a hobby of mine as well. Along with that, I spend a lot of time watching movies and have plans to start writing reviews in order to expand on my writing skills.
I’m really excited to start my career and learn as much as I can throughout the rest of my life to improve on the skills I already have while learning new things.
