Mixer Brush

Just when you think you knew it all, you come across another interesting tool on Photoshop. If you wanted to access your creative side, then this tool is for you. This tool allows you to combine colors within your image. Of course, I am talking about the Mixer brush.

The Mixer brush is a great feature within photoshop. There also isn’t much to it. A lot of it is about preference. With the Mixer brush, you have the option to “push” or mix colors. You can either add different colors or you can mix the already existing colors from your image. Depending on the options you choose decides on what your image can look like. For this image, I chose to mix the existing colors. I made sure the color in the toolbar was black, so it mixed the colors better. Also, depending on the amount of mix you want, you can change the percentage. For this image, I chose 100%.

Everything you try in Photoshop is up to your preference, but this is especially true with the Mixer Brush. With the image I was editing with the Mixer Brush, I felt like the entire wall would make a great canvas and painting that I would hang up in my house. This was a painting on the side of a building of a dancer with streams coming from her hand.
Keep in mind that the mixer brush adds a different texture that can change your image.

I also recommend using a Pen tablet when editing photos but more specifically with the mixer tool. With a Pen tablet, you will be able to get the finer details of the image and your hand won’t feel as cramped. A pen tablet is fairly cheap, and you can get one from Amazon for about $60. Have you ever tried using a Pen tablet? Do you think it makes things easier? Also, what do you think of the mixer brush?

For practice, try taking a picture of your pet and then using the Mixer Brush tool with it. Try making the picture look like a painting. Don’t forget to watch the flow of your strokes because they can change your image greatly. Don’t forget to check out my other posts and let me know what you think. Thank you so much!
