If we are being real, most “how-to” YouTube tutorials are jam-packed with useless information. They are filled with unwanted ads and you never know when the information you have been looking for will even come up. There is no worse feeling than when you watch an entire YouTube video just to find out that what you were looking for isn’t even in this video. Don’t get me wrong, some of those tutorials are great but I want to know exactly what I’m looking at.
If you are like me then you love a good book. Especially if the book is more educational then you know exactly what you will be reading when you pick it up. When I first started taking photography classes in college, my professor had us get this book. “Read this if you want to take great photographs” is a book by Henry Carroll.
Friends, this book is incredible.
If you are a new photographer or even an experienced one, you need to read this book.
This book is split into different sections. It starts off from where the camera started. It explains how a camera works and how it is essentially a box. It really puts the emphasis on camera lenses versus the body of a camera. The book teaches you different composition styles and even gives you amazing examples of each one. The book also teaches you about the different buttons and settings. This book is a great tool if you want to learn about white balance, the exposure triangle, and so many more things. If it has to deal with photography, this book has it and it is the best tool to use.
If you want to get better at photography, then you need to get this book. I have become pretty familiar with my camera, yet I still take this book everywhere because it is a must-read. Henry Carroll does have more books in this series with content more focused on landscape photography as well as people. I have not tried the other books, but if they are anything like this amazing book then they will be worth the read. Again, if you are interested in becoming a better photographer at all then you need to get this book.
Have you ever read this book? If so, then what are your thoughts? Do you have any recommendations on books or websites for photography learners? Let me know down in the comments! Don’t forget to check out my other blog posts! Thank you so much.
