It is practically written in our DNA that we have got to get the very best. Whether it is the best clothes, the coolest shoes, and the nicest car. This all becomes a pride issue. Even with our phones and our phone provider. I know people who won’t use Straight Talk as their phone provider because it labels them as “poor”. The desire to have the best of the best is the same in the photography world. However, it becomes a little tougher when you have both Canon and Nikon as your options. So, which one do you go with?
When I first started taking photography classes in college, I had to read this book. In the book, it talks about the history of the camera and where it is at today. They described the camera as a box. This box may have a lot of cool functions and confusing buttons, but it is still a box. When I was reading this, I was still confused because now I really have no idea what camera to get. I started asking a few of my friends who were photographers, and each person gave me different advice. The interesting thing was that they all were Nikon users, but they weren’t trying to persuade me into getting Nikon. They actually were in favor of me buying a Canon. Long story short, I bought a Canon Rebel T7. This camera is amazing and so simple.
I decided to get the Canon Rebel T7 because my friends told me that Canon is easy to use, especially for beginners. I would definitely agree with this. The camera has both RAW and JPEG options which is a must.
As far as quality, this camera is great. The colors stand out and it is so easy to change settings such as the white balance and the saturation/hue on this camera. My favorite lens to use with this camera is the 50mm.
I personally have never owned a Nikon camera, but I did learn on a Nikon for a little. From what I have researched, Nikon has had more Mega Pixels, however, Nikon cameras usually cost significantly more. With Nikon, some of their lenses may be a bit sharper but they cost a lot more. Many different reviews for both Canon and Nikon both love each respected brand. Technically speaking, both brands have become very similar but of course, they do have minor differences. IF you want to save money then start with Canon and get a 50mm lens with a 1.8 aperture. This is my recommendation. No matter which camera brand you go with, stay with that brand. You can use any Canon lens on any Canon camera. This is the same for Nikon! However, you can’t use a Canon lens on a Nikon camera or vice versa. So, whichever brand you go with, just keep in mind that the more invested you get financially, it becomes less worth it to switch sides.
Which camera do you prefer? Is there even a right or wrong choice? If you have used both brands, what do you like about each brand? Let us know in the comments below! Don’t forget to check out my other posts! Thank you so much!
