This fall semester, I had a course called Ancient to Enlight, centered around the concept of justice. For our creative midterm, we were tasked with the prompt, “how does justice change over time”. I decided to take a modern approach and talk about cancel culture; a phenomenon made possible by social media in recent years. From this project, I learned that cancel culture is a modern-day equivalent of mob justice and can be extremely harmful to society.
In my advertising class this semester, I decided to focus on a platform we all know too well: Netflix. Using Twitter, I found it quite clever how Netflix made a personal account for the character Wednesday Addams to promote her new show. The tweets were witty, and true to character, which rallied fans and created buzz around the new show.
